My probs with him is that, I understand how poverty can change someone, but how does bro expect any of that happy family life and getting out of poverty to happen if he was just sitting around the house spending her money and making her do all the house work

Even when he was jobless he could've helped her around a bit. Unlike Na Haesu who was actually working her ass off to achieve that dream. Even had her cooking his breakfast in the wake of dawn.

Bro just wants her to be sparkling, cheerful, and radiant while girlie was working herself to death on 3hrs of sleep.

He cheats, but is certain that Na Haesoo only has him and can never leave him anyway. He knows her weakness of being lonely and uses it to keep her clinging to him.

He also does this to Ari the new girl. He knows her weakness as a young innocent naive rich girl who'll give him anything he wants. So he takes advantage of this knowing full well he isn't going to stay with her.

It takes a certain type of pos mindset to think that way, so low-key I'm theorizing that Mincheol always had this way of thinking. I'm sad to think maybe he was always this way.

Yes, I believe he really wants a happy future with Na Haesoo and have kids with her, but this kind of toxic mindset in a relationship doesn't come from becoming impoverished.

It's a core principle, and involves how he views these women in the first place. He saw Na Haesoo as a pretty little thing that has worn out, and Ari as a new plaything to throw out once he's done.

He also has a toxic traditional mindset that insists Na Haesoo does all the housework and that she should look good for her husband at all times. That he's to be respected as the man of the house. This is stuff that doesn't come from being poor.

In fact, being poor would've been a wake up call to some people that helping each other as much as you can is much more important than gender roles in the house.

So did poverty really change Mincheol?

Just like that scene where he stops smoking cigars in front of Na Haesoo. He had always been smoking, and the only change he made was to not do it in front of her. Until he no longer cared to hide it.

Who really was Mincheol before he stopped caring about what he did in front of Na Haesoo?
