-----------------------------------------
Saddest Jingi omg. I've never seen him this depressed before Praying he doesn't start s/h again he looks so depressed because both Myeong-il and Heonjae keep ignoring him no matter how much he calls for them.
Jingi thought Myeong-il and him were okay now, but still continued to avoid him the next day, so he asked Myeong-il "Hey... what did I do wrong...?"
-----------------------------------------
Meanwhile in labor duty, Myeong-il basically gets called a hoe, who only shook his ass to get this job and get special treatment in that room (Jingi's room), but he isn't good at anything and doesn't have any skills for a real job in the outside world.
Then Heonjae was told he had no power here and just hides behind his older brother for everything, the one who actually has authority in the prison.
In short, they were given a reality check that they were nothing without Jingi (the one they're ignoring but is the one providing them with everything they need and want (at the cost of having to obey his Uncle)).
Though obviously I understand why. For Myeong-il's part, he ignores him because of the letter, and on Heonjae's part, it might be out of some selfish possessiveness that wants to gatekeep Myeong-il to himself, but also low-key Heonjae just getting back at his older brother for never telling him anything and always keeping him in the dark, so now it's his turn to not tell him anything.
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
Damnn, I feel so bad for Jingi (´;ω;`)
He's so... lonely. Especially since he's being outcast by Myeong-il and his own brother. Those two are all that Jingi has here in prison... but even they've left him.
There's this part in chapter 39 where Heonjae is told 'everyone goes through life alone.'
but Heonjae thinks "No, I'm the only one who's alone".
But he doesn't realize that BOTH him and Jingi have felt that they were alone.
Jingi has so much baggage he carries by himself but doesn't tell Heonjae in order to protect him. About the things that happened with the Uncle, about why he couldn't meet Heonjae all these years, about their mother passing away.
Jingi protects Heonjae from all of that, doesn't tell him anything, doesn't share the family problems, or the burdens as the older sibling.
And there's nothing more lonely than facing everything on your own.
In a way, Myeong-il is lonely in that sense too. Though he has his family with his grandmother and siblings, having to carry the responsibilities of being a parent and older brother to his siblings, and a provider of the household, all while he was still just a middle school student and having neither of his parents to turn to. It must've also been pretty lonely having only himself to rely on.
So now, here these three helpless people are... possibly co-depending on one another in the future (hopefully).

Oh, I read here in new toki though they're only raws and not yet translated: https://newtoki468.com/webtoon/46802614?toon=BL/GL

ALL of this yes. Never thought i would genuinely feel bad for jingi. Particularly the relationship between the brothers makes me feel conflicted like the way jingi just takes all the responsibilities without getting anything out of it to heonjae who's kind of in his own world and sorrow without realising that he's depending on him to leaving his brother alone for bussy is just idk it makes me mad because they've only known myeongil for maybe two months and it's crazy to me how even after 10 years of close enclosure with jingi he still is ignorant to what is happening. At the end of the day that's your brother and that man has been taking care of you for years helping you get out sooner helping you be safe, the moment he found you again he tried his best even in his own fucked up way right so how could you just throw him away hahhhh can't believe I'm here defending jingi lmao what is this webtoon istg

Yeahh, it's sad Heonjae doesn’t really see what Jingi's been doing for him. I think it's the result of how Jingi, as the older brother, overindulges and overprotects Heonjae from a lot of the serious problems that Heonjae needs to face by himself.
But since Heonjae is sheltered by Jingi from all that, Heonjae isn't able to see just how much Jingi has done for him.
Myeong-il once said that it's actually Heonjae who is skilled and can do things while Jingi does nothing but order people around, but neither Heonjae nor Myeong-il realizes how much they're actually depending on Jingi.

Nicee, I'm glad more people are reading Slammer Dogs despite some of the disturbing themes, and are pushing through those just to read the progression of the story.
Because I genuinely enjoy this. It's so unique, I don't know any other BL or manhwas like this. None of them look like this and none of them tells a story like this.
It reminds me a lot like a comic book, with the way the panels are framed, the way the storytelling is conveyed visually, and all these small details and clues that we get to piece together as the chapters go on.
So, I'm glad to have more people like you onboard this story. Hope to see you until the very last chapter together! I need to know how this ends.

This is a pretty interesting take!
I think the reason Jaeju said that when he was younger is because he WAS the only lonely one then. Jingi at that time was apart of some illegal company, and presumably, did have more friends.
I personally don’t feel bad for Jingi at all. Jingi is a criminal (they all are), he’s being isolated because of that letter, and also..well, he is a grap1st. That letter is so bad myeong-il wanted to throw up. That letter must’ve been horrible. He might be lonely, but as you said, they are all lonely in their own ways, and i think that the three of them deserve it.

Y'all say FL is stupid, but while it was frustrating to see ML get misunderstood when he's so perfect, I personally think running away for 5 years was the best decision at the time. It's better for the son to grow up first before returning to that place.
Even if she trusted the ML and didn't believe he was the killer, it would've taken too long to figure out that the culprit was the sister and something bad would've happened by then if FL stayed close.
ML himself couldn't trace the assassin back to his sister after 5 years of investigation. How would they have figured out in time before FL got hurt or killed if she stayed?
If FL stayed there while she was pregnant, the poisoned tea would've caused her a miscarriage by then. If FL stayed there and she had a vulnerable newborn baby, they easily could've killed the baby son by then, there's secret assassins and servants under the sister's command without even the ML knowing.
Even if FL stayed away from the ML's house, FL's own sister in her house was a traitor too. FL's brother even asked her to forgive the traitorous sister even after making her suffer for 5 years, so he's not reliable either.
IN THE END, FL was ultimately the one who figured out who the killer was, FL was the one who saved her own son, FL was the one who defeated Margaret.
So really, relying on herself turned out for the best. That's why I don't believe FL was wrong for running away. If she misunderstood ML, then it was just the unfortunate outcome of fear and manipulation she experienced by almost being assassinated.
I don't believe FL is dumb, because she saved her son, defeated the villain, and got her man back. I think she did pretty well, and obviously ML was really good too for holding on.

Spoilers!! Omg? Traitor?? also shoutout to sparkyonline, your theory 2 weeks ago was right.

The prisoner guy who gambles with Myeong-il is working for the creepy Uncle!!! You were right "sparkyonline" with your reply to me, the Uncle WAS spying on Jingi using prisoners instead of the usual guards.
The guy who plays with Myeong-il is being instructed to check for whoever has their hair dyed. BUT idk if he reported about Myeong-il yet...?
-----------------------------------------
I'm not sure how their conversation really went. (Please come quickly official English )
It was like the Uncle asked "Did anyone else get their hair dyed?" the prisoner dude doesn't answer immediately and says "...no, there isn't. The ones that did were quickly replaced"
Idk if that meant the prisoner dude reported correctly to the Uncle that there hasn't been anyone else that Jingi has hair-dyed because they were all replaced?
OR if he lied and false reported to the Uncle that no one's been hair-dyed, and the ones that did are being quickly replaced by Jingi anyway.
And he's actually not telling the Uncle about Myeong-il who is the ONLY one with his hair dyed for the longest time now.
Is he trying not to endanger Myeong-il?? Friend or Foe??
-----------------------------------------
Okay, now that the most important news is done, time for the summary of each character this chapter:
- Jingi -
Myeong-il and Jingi are slowly going back to the way they used to be.
Jingi plans the dates on the calendar for when Heonjae and Myeong-il are released from prison.
Jingi then thinks about what else to teach Myeong-il for the remaining time. Then catches himself thinking about him, and asks himself why is he thinking about that. Then he lies down and presses the bite mark Myeong-il left on his thumb to his lips...
-----------------------------------------
- Heonjae -
Heonjae during CPR class thinks about the trauma of his crime that the other prisoner triggered last chapter. He remembers how much the teacher turned out to hate Heonjae. He was afraid Myeong-il would hate him like that too.
After being imprisoned, he thought about the teacher, but he said with each passing winter, thoughts of him faded away. He spent these 9 years just learning things and following orders. Then just before the 10th year, he met Myeong-il.
-----------------------------------------
- Myeong-il -
He's just as usual. He gets news of the upcoming Sports Festival in the prison. 1st place wins a washing machine. Myeong-il wants to join and win because he says their house doesn't have a washing machine. And he invites Heonjae to compete with him in the Sports Festival to ensure the prize.

- Extra -
Also that one Korean comment on this chapter is right.
When you think about how Heonjae was reminiscing about the teacher who he cut both legs off while resuscitating the CPR mannequin... the doll was only half-body...
Then a panel later, Myeong-il was imagined in place of that mannequin...
The author is actually so scary with details like that in this manhwa, they didn't even directly imply it, but instead the panels just slowly make you stop and think "...oh, sh*t. wait a minute."

OMGGGGGG Ty for the shoutout haha I had a feeling they were working together since the guy who gambles with Myeongil always seems to be observing everyone around him carefully… now we know why! I’m not fully on board with trusting him though, even if he temporarily withheld information, since he might be planning on using Myeongil for his own benefit (I think one of the translations was that he had a “good dog” so things will work out…myeongil?) He’ll probably string Myeongil along knowing he’s addicted to gambling + getting as much info about jingi as possible. And he’s most likely aware that Jingi has an attachment to myeongil, so that Jingi wouldn’t easily replace him…meaning the guy doesn’t have to worry about being fkd by jingi ). I’m not sure what his ultimate goal is, maybe a lesser prison sentence, but I can’t fully understand the point of not letting the uncle know about Myeongil.
And thanks for the rest of your analysis! I totally missed Jingi pressing his injured thumb against his mouth while thinking about Myeongil. And Heonjae with the cpr doll, immediately imagining Myeongil as the limb-less torso… very spooky. But then a few panels later, Heonjae starts thinking about doing something as cute as doing pottery with Myeongil so

i reread the raws and slight correction, Myeongil was the one who thought of the pottery together lol. Still, it’s interesting to see how Heonjae’s intense feelings unconsciously manifest. Also, it seems like the guy who gambles with myeongil knows that myeongil is close to heonjae as well + heonjae’s tendency for violence (shushing the other guy in the last chapter as a warning). I wonder if he’s going to use myeongil to pit the two brothers against each other?

Oop I didn’t even really think of it like that when I saw him thinking of myeongil as the doll. He just looked naked to me bc the doll’s arm is cut off at the shoulder and myeongils wasn’t. Either heonjae will try to do the same thing he did to his coach or will eventually change for myeongil in the end

I absolutely love reading the nuanced takes and insightful theories/discussion happening in this thread. I also want to believe the gambler guy is protecting Myeongil's identity, but I do wonder what advantage he has against the the uncle in withholding info about Myeongil.
Anyways thank you for sharing your detailed thoughts everytime the raws come out, I really enjoy reading them

I want to give all of you 10283738291029373729 likes and more. This thread is so freakin' good and makes me curious about everything. I had no idea that so much is happening in the next chapters 'cause I can't read korean, but you all made my day at this freakin' moment and I love you so much for that.(/TДT)/
Aaaaaaahhhh
Damn, actually a really good ML after all. 10/10 would marry again.
