from context clues alone, in the past 10~ish chapters the duke asked the emperor if he'll grant Clarice a temporary identity tied to him (like a recognized guarantor or guardianship)
the redhead is the empress with a former engagement to the duke. no idea why she's the one to deliver the token of Clarice's identity.
my guess for what's happen: with pressure unilaterally against the adopted son, the two that were formerly engaged was dissolved. and the duke had a more platonic perspective on their relationship. the empress has her own wishes to reach out, and it just so happens that the emperor enjoys shenanigans. (he's vain about his own beauty. has fun getting a rise. so far there is no mention of a heir between the royal couple)

Considering she was a scorned child and the abusive bastard had more than one child, the tutor probably doesn't know- or want to know about the 'enemy' nation. Not trying to defend him, just trying to find logic.
Because my real question is how the guy got past the two (Duke and Duchess) when his disposition changed this much. They might have perceived the shock of hearing of princess's identity as general shock considering they hid her identity. BUT why even tell him of her position? Knowing that she is a prisoner of war of a defeated nation will only be of concern if she brought it up herself. But the way they (Duke and Duchess) treat her is irrelevant of that fact.
Where's the background check, the guarantors, etc. Considering there is a trial period of three days, a lot of damage can happen- knowing this story, he'll likely come around. But I don't actually want that to be the case, because this story features the family of three. Our child protagonist came out well-rounded. I hope there is enough development or he comes out as irredeemable. Most other child rofan series come out too fluffy because the world ends up revolving around a character.

Lenouch (Ed James), Ivan, and Van.
Lenouch is the bodies original identity. Van is his freelancer identity. Ivan is his government name or civilian identity (he said he was going to look for normal work, but he hasn't done so). And Ed James is a false name given using Lenouch's face.

does anyone have spoilers for the three classes he wants to recruit? or if anyone knows which chapter 72 manga correlates to in the novel?

    IrregularPerson September 11, 2024 9:37 am

Huh, it's been a while. Thought I should answer my own question so other people don't.

He wants to recruit a shaman, paladin/dark knight, and a magic attacker.
