That was hilarious!
Anywho, same artist as "I Think I Have Transmigrated Somewhere". So go check that out. It's a pretty good story!!

There's a novel, right? Is she writing to Schderl from a different timeline, and sending the letter to that alternate universe? Bc the Duke of Sagna = teacher.
So basically, she's writing to him about some things he's told her in another life? Her letter confused me.

    Alice May 18, 2024 11:47 pm

Duke of sagna = her magic teacher from the 1st timeline.
In this time line however as we can see thanks to the different choices of her mother Duke of sagna = her dad.
Since she has kept her memories intact after being reborn as her other's daughter in this 2nd timeline It's hard for her to cope with all the memories and emotional baggage... So here she was writing a letter to her teacher (current timeline dad) cause after spending 2 timelines with him she finally realized his past teachings but since he does not "exist" in this timeline thus she cannot express her feelings of gratitude to him she wrote this letter instead!

My brain was overclocking when I first read it, fr.

But she did mention denying his words for "two whole lifetimes after" he said them to her. That threw me off for the rest of the chapter. So I was like, 'how many timelines are there? Which him is she writing to?'

So there's Duke Sagna (the timeline before he becomes her teacher, where he gave her the advice about Magic power not being more important than magic affinity), Teacher 1 (where she was "stuck uselessly on the first floor"), Teacher 2 (where she made it to the top?), and then Dad. Or maybe Teacher was just one life and not two separate ones?

** I'm thinking she was writing to Duke Schderl, about things involving Teacher Schderl (1 & 2?), because she said "you probably don't know who I am" meaning they weren't acquainted that life, hence why she doesn't refer to him as Teacher, but as Duke. See how confusing this is??
She refers to them differently. She said Duke, Teacher, and Dad in that chapter, and they're not interchangeable (bc diff timelines). But THEN AGAIN, she starts the letter as "Master Sagna" which could be like shifu, sensei, teacher.......... So I wondered if the novel says something about more lives.

It may just all be a translation thing. Like my brain is hurting again trying to type it up lol.

Is there a show like this? I know the original story is popular, but is there a drama with a similar viewpoint? I've watched like half of Love Destiny back in 2020 during covid (I didn't really care for the ML character... but I dropped it bc life got busy. Now I just watch short Chinese web dramas).

But I really would enjoy watching a Thai drama like this. I love this webcomic and would love to see something similar come to life on my screen.

If not, then I'll have to try and pick back up on Love Destiny in order to scratch that itch.

    Shameless May 18, 2024 6:21 pm

Oh, and plz recommend any other historically set webcomics too if y'all know any. Love Destiny was my first look at ancient Thai culture, and Loveless Heroine is my 2nd, so it's still all so new to me.

    Coldblood May 29, 2024 10:16 am

For Love Destiny, there is a movie and a whole other drama (about one of the twin sons and another time traveller with the same actors… so you get a triplet of the ml and two of the fl lol-)

If you're looking for something similar there is “phetra naruemit” which is basically the same time travelling shick tho not as good as love destiny imo.

Another time traveling to ancient times is “candle in the sun”. It is very typical Thai drama (so very over the top and the villain is- well a horrible bitch) so if you can turn off your brain and don't mind constant screaming and plot twist I guess I recommend. Honestly I only watched so I can recap it to my friends as a joke because of how crazy it is.

There's also a really good series called “the five brothers”- which has… well five brothers with their own season. It is more in the 19th century (so not ancient Thai) but cool vibes overrall- I would recommend. And you don't even have to watch them in order, just pick the guy that you like best and start there (that's what I did, enjoyed all of it tho and same actress as love destiny in one of the season.)

(let me know if you need any more recommendations or want other Thai tv show genres lol)

    Oh, thank you!!!

I'm actually pretty open-minded and lax when it comes to watching shows or reading material from other cultures (like, until I actually gain a discerning eye to tell what's actually good/bad quality lol). So I'm not picky atm. Gonna soak it all in, so I'll give all these a try for sure. I'll start with Love Destiny movie, then "Phetra". Thanks again!

Oh, and I just remembered I did watch the Thai version of Fated to Love You, bc I was marathoning all versions. I'll def hit you up for other recommendations when I'm ready to branch out! I'm excited .

this arc is the longest. It's not interesting as the mutated zombie island. Like what was up with that? But I'm guessing its working up to some important plot points about their world? Like how that priest knew this was going to happen and prepared for it all.

Anywho, I didn't mind that it jumped around to different situations bc I wasn't here for the plot anyway (not like the smut is even good... I just wanted to see the hot couple from the cover, and even THAT was a MAJOR disappointment and borderline nonexistent). It didn't stay in one place long enough to become too uninterested in it. But now that it's not jumping to a new set of chars, the uninterest in this strange plot and art-style is lingering more. There is no MC to care about or root for.

Like for real, its not even good smut. I'm just here for more info on the creepy zombies and possibly why some mutated. It actually helps that the CHs aren't long. An update is only a few secs to read.

Agree lol the only reason I click on this is bc of the cover yet this shit suck ass

but I'm curious how it ends [if there's even one], so I keep coming back for it

Ch 67 only has 3 short pages, and 68 is complete spam bullshit.

Shameless March 29, 2024 12:13 pm

I know that rapist is trash, but non-black authors don't have to make a character say the N-word just to solidify their character's fucked-up-ness.

GOOD on the translator for deciding to change it. That shit would've jumpscared me. Like... author puts a trigger warning for SA, but not racial slurs that could be very traumatizing and upsetting? I'ma keep reading, but they getting a side-eye from me.

It may not be this deep, but at this point in time, it makes me wonder why a dark skin character was designed. Was it solely to show the other char is racist, (used as props and character devices) or are they actual legit characters in this as well? Like "yeah we have black characters too..." then the black char is the first one killed off, or has shortest screentime. Like then don't even put them in there then if you gonna do foul. /// Anywho, that's my initial reaction to only reading up to CH 4. Honestly I rather just not see another POC, than see them existing only to be mistreated or the butt of jokes. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

thanks for pointing it out bc i was planning on reading the novel and reading this but now im not cause thats triggering as a black person. it feels like we can never get away from terrible portrayal of black characters in asian media

I understand your choice but I wanted to let you know that the English translated novel never uses the n word nor does this fan translation.

    OxU April 1, 2024 4:34 am

I don’t think the author intended to make POC the butt if jokes but I get what you’re saying. I also understand the issue I mean there’s literally a Korean manhwa that just completely steps on ancient indigenous Australian culture by making them white and gay (indigenous aussies identify as being blak and poc). But for this story I don’t think it’s like that.

Because firstly (SPOILERS FOR RECENT CHAPTER AHEAD) aren’t most of the characters so far POC? I mean an zhe and lu feng are Chinese so they are POC. And idk where dousay is from but she’s also not white. And it may seem like Dousay, who is so far another darker skin character, had really short screen time but in the novel her existence is very important. The manhua is speeding through the novel but she was one of an zhe’s only friend and through her he realised for the first time that people also can love the arbiter. Her story is really tragic in the novel and important. It’s the first bit of despair that sets the tone for the rest of the the novel and her ordering the lu Feng doll also impacts the story. She’s one of my favourite characters. Other than that tho we have no idea who else is POC apart from the Chinese people because afaik only the doctor, a later character, Lu Feng and An zhe were referred to in terms of skin appearance. That would be up to the artist I presume because their names are vague origin like Dousay and Hubbard.

Well the translator said that they used the translation of the word from the novel which is “scum.” So the novel itself should be fine. The n word is not actually typed out in the story since the translator didn’t put it in, the translator just made a note saying that it says the n word there.

Other explanations of the Chinese word says it translates to “black ghost” and one person went into detail:
    (Copy and pasted this)
I wouldn't go so far as to say it's means the n word exactly, but it's not very polite. It's like if a Westerners went around calling Asian ppl "those yellow skinned ppl" kind of bad vibes. It's also very common to call white/Western ppl "鬼佬,白鬼,洋鬼子” vaguely offensive but not outright racist, it's more of a not politically correct way to say"foreigner"
    -
Anyways it may not be the true translation that it’s the n word since if you see there’s some Asian words that make it look like that when using google translate (aka machine translations), but it’s meant to be offensive by the character using it in the context.

    pigglypoof April 1, 2024 7:28 am

The author did not use that word in the novel so I'm curious who decided to change it up for the manhua. Hopefully it wasn't the author.

    Shameless April 2, 2024 8:18 pm

I haven't continued reading after making my comment, but I'm not deleting this from my reading list in case I ever decide to return.

Yeahhhh, I have no idea why the team who made the manhua adaption decided to "spice things up" like that, but it does leave a bad taste in my mouth (even after reading the break-down). And my reading list is already HUGE, so it's whatever, bc there's a lot of comics I need to catch up on. I may come back to this, might not... Beautiful art tho. They got that going for them.

Shameless March 8, 2024 1:49 am

That's the most BS chapter I think I've ever read in a manga/manwha. Like, if there needed to be a separation arc, why tf would someone write it like that? It just makes all of their main characters look like fuckin dinguses... Like they don't have a single competent cell in their whole body. Childish and braindead

    Geek Goddess March 21, 2024 9:02 pm

Lmaooo I haven't heard the word disgusting in a long time. And now that you've mentioned it, these characters really did look like dinguses.

"An eye for an eye, makes the whole world blind"

Shameless March 3, 2024 6:06 pm

First off, I'm not reading that 2nd story, bc wtf.
And also, what happened to the dark nip guy in the 1st story? I thought they were gonna do a story on loving what you're born with, but they took it completely left field... And even shamed the fiance with darker lips (and nips) as being "disgusting, wrinkled, poisonous mushroom" lips.

I'm just surprised someone(s) actually sat down and created this. Like please be satire. But it's not quite ridiculous enough to be satire.

Shameless January 7, 2024 4:00 pm

There are pages missing from CH 3. I came here to read this webcomic because of the screenshots someone posted on OtomeIsekai subreddit. And those pages are missing!!!!

Hernan asks what else she likes, she stares at his chest and blurts out "Your ches-".

So what other pages are missing from this and other chapters? The translation is a little bad... But damn, you can't be missing pages like that. It's already a choppy read, and now it's even more choppy with stuff missing. I'ma hold off on reading this here.
