I feel like I can relate to this trope because its happened to me. I'm a woman and I have a husband but in the past there was another woman that I had fallen in love with. I had never looked at another woman sexually before in my life. It's been years, I'm married and have kids but to this day, I randomly think of the only woman I would have gone gay for. So i can respect with when I a guy says "if it's you, I'm fine". Hope my little story helped! if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

To put it simply, it creeps me out. It is pretty much the manifestation of the dark side of the BL industry.
Since BL's are targeted for a straight women audience, real representation tends to be tossed out for the pleasure of the female fantasy e.g plots where the male MC's are straight and can only like and get aroused by the other male MC and no other male which is so wrong in so many ways which evokes a sense of masculinity e.g it makes it feel like, as a straight female reader, you would have this chance to be with this hot "straight" guy that they're selling off, which is unsurprisingly, a great way to sell your stories, there's a reason why plots like these are popular. You might think, oh what if this is a representation of the Bisexual Community? Bitch no, do you think someone who can only like one person and not the whole gender is Bi? This type of trope is borderline fetishism if not actual fetishism in my opinion. Sad thing is that these types of plot with no actual representation of the LGBTQ community is what makes up the BL industry at large and is the common trope for BL stories alike. I'm hoping at the very least that more diverse and real representation plots start appearing, and good thing is that they are.

Indeed madam and very well said. I think the reason for the clamor behind this trope is that a "straight-acting" gay guy is the most attractive type (guilty here). I mean, gays like the masculine traits and the dilemma is that gays tend to have more feminine traits. Finding the most attractive which is gay guy who doesn't act like one is a rarity. This leads to the reason for a lot of us to be attracted to the (more common) actually straight guys. That's why, I think, in a way, the breadth of the audience expands itself to gay guys... It let's us experience the fantasyヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~

like what they said, this trope isn't good for actual representation of gay people. but it does exist, so i don't see any actual problem. i find it problematic if it dominates the genre. so far in yaoi i think this trope is used a lot, but not so much that it accounts for the majority. for thai BL it's a different story...
