There's this manwha, it was a joseon era thing where the emperor/king had dreams about his past life with a lover (i think they both died i don't really remember) but in this life, he met some guy who manipulated him into thinking he was the lover from the past life (the emperor doesn't remember what his lover looked like, he only knew his lover had a scar)
He met his lover afterwards but he has no idea its him meanwhile the one he currently thinks is his man is very sick and requires scales to feel better so the emperor plays the second guy for his scales, making him pull of his scales daily
I think the actual lover died after months of maltreatment or so
They both died in a war
I have to say, it was quite boring icl, it felt like I was reading a written version of a typical kdrama (p.s I love kdramas but this was too predictable) if you're thinking of starting this
