I remember reading the novel a long time ago and it was great, well-written and really hit me in my feels. This manhwa adaptation really did ruin it, especially for international audiences. The novel didn’t have many chapters translated to English so this manhwa is basically the impression everyone has of this story. And well clearly the writing in this manhwa is awful.

Also it’s a shame I don’t know what happened but novelupdates spoiler forums seem to be disappearing, I couldn’t find it anymore for this novel and another novel.

I was almost misled by the spoilers here. I did in fact read the entirety of this manhwa. Or nearly all of it. I was skimming parts to the point I didn’t really read it.

No the og fl mom did not brainwash the duke. He is simply trash. He knew that his first wife was scared of blood, he said himself he’s not stupid to not know after 3 years living together. He covered up the murders for the original culprit for the sole purpose of framing his first wife. So a terrible husband and lord to his people. He purposely killed his innocent first wife to make his love story a grand epic and even continued every year hosting an opera of this story of their love and her villainy.

Og fl mom is the author of the story and went along with her plot knowing that first wife was innocent of the murders. She didn’t change the story really until later on when her daughter wasn’t living the main character life she wrote.
