I think right now, the plot is more about the author showing us how jooin and ye-gyum are influencing each other and changing how they experience relationships.
Like, jooin is using ye-gyum's name more instead of calling him mittens, which he said before he did out of lack of interest in putting effort into remembering peoples name at all. He's also been very vocal and encouraging in trying to get ye-gyum to have a better opinion of himself. That can be seen as jooin showing more respect and feeling ye-gyum is of value.
And ye-gyum is becoming more confident and bold, which can be seen as him becoming stronger because he's no longer being exclusively used and exploited by his partner; jooin's thoughtful consideration and loving words towards him has made ye-gyum desire jooin for the love he gets from him and what they can have together, instead of solely as an empty servant willing to be mistreated as long as he isn't alone, the way he's been in his other relationships.
I can't speak for the author, but that's the kind of vibe I've been getting from the last few chps
I like how the author is trying to make us empathize with Lan Shui lol yeah, the dad is cold, but this is still an extreme response to emotional neglect, especially when he was adored by his mother and step dad even I think. He's really mad cause his father didn't just make him heir as the firstborn and made him earn it with skills and hard work instead. Emotional neglect is traumatic, but with all the other support and loving experiences he had growing up, this killing and torturing other people just to get back at his dad doesn't hit for me. Like bruh, your performance was gonna make you heir anyway! You did a great job meeting your father's expectations, so wtf is the problem? You don't even like your brothers lol the whole thing is ridiculous. I understand what the author is trying to do, they have a point that abuse isn't always physical or sexual. The dad is not a "good" man. Emotional abuse is wrong. But Lan Shui...is giving spoiled brat, not victim
Curious to see if potentially having feelings for jo is bout to make youngwoo feel it as intensely as he do with taejoon, cuz...they toxic af together, but we all know don't nobody hit that spot the way tj do
