Can someone explain me the sentence on the second page, chapter 61 - "Neuschwanstein went half mad longing for his dead lover.." Like do they mean her other lover or Jeremy? Cause he wasn't her lover he just liked her secretly, but Shuli's lover is not called by their name because they weren't married, right? So can someone clear that for me please?

A lot of people (Jeremy's fiancee, Ophelia included) thought that Jeremy was in some kind of secret , forbidden romantic relationship with Shuli who was his step-mother. It's probably mainly because all the rumors surrounding Shuli branding her as an immoral woman and and the fact that they only had a 2-year age difference. people assumed that any amount of care Jeremy showed is a sign that they were in that kind of relationship. IRL, a lot of people are nasty like that, making up stories in their heads and spreading it around to make them feel better about themselves.
