Agreed, like gay/bi men aren't like yaoi characters AT ALL and it's offensive to infantilize them like that. Treat them like people and respect how much they want to share their sexuality and sex/dating lives with you.

I think the worst part about the BL fandom is the fetishization of gay/bi men tbh.

They didn’t say they’d treat them like trophies or pets, I think you’re going a bit too far with your comparison. They’re just curious about their love life, like how you would your best gf’s, and indeed it is entertaining when your friends talk about their love life. I agree that people should all be treated equally, but there’s nothing wrong with being curious as long as it’s done politely.

Agree completely. In another comment section too, someone was saying that a parent (in a manga) who didn't discriminate her son for being gay must be a "fudashi", as though being supportive of human rights is some sort of novelty and exception. Can you imagine if people talked about a certain race, completely objectifying, lumping everyone into the same boat, infantilising like they do on here towards people who identify as gay! It's one thing also to talk about fictional characters like this, but in this comment section quite a few posters have talked about treating gay folk they know in real life in the same manner which is pretty awful.

Ugh, that's so gross like people who aren't bigots and accepting of LGBT people aren't automatically fujoshis/fundanshis. That reminds me of a story of a fujoshi cosplayer coming up to another cosplayer's gay parents and saying it's like yaoi in real life and asking them who's the "seme" and "uke" (because asking strangers about their sex lives if they are gay is completely ok!)

It's funny how you say people talking about infantilizing a whole race of people because that also happens a lot in real life too......especially with Asian people, but basically all people of color.

I agree with you, for the most part, it's one thing to call a fictional character a cinnamon roll or sweetie and another to do the same thing to a real-life gay person. Reading these types of comments makes me cringe and feel bad for any gay person who comes in contact with these people. I hope that doesn't happen because gay men aren't straight women's accesories or pets.

please think twice before saying such things. being gay/bi is not easy and i really wouldn't like someone coming to me saying " who's the uke/seme " or things like this. just reconsider your way of thinking, thanks!

She didn't have to say specifically those words. It was already implied when she said,

"I would be so curious about his life that he would have enough of me. But of course I would say that I am fujoshi so he be aware of it from the beginning".

It seems to me like the curiosity stems from being fujoshi first...as if the supposed gay friend's life was like a real-life yaoi manga.

Now don't get me wrong. I absolutely agree with you that about asking politely when one is curious about one's gay friend's life but do so not because one is a fujoshi but rather because one is his friend first, is all i'm saying. Just please don't objectify them as if their lives are for a fujoshi's entertainment is all.

I don't mean to bring hate or be rude to OP or for my comment to come off as aggressive. I was just reprimanding a fellow (and most likely younger) fujoshi so that she doesn't learn it the hard way.
