I am currently writing a short story (yes, of course, I'm a devoted fujoshi, so yes, it is BL) on my OCs. And I asked a friend if they could create a character, as the partner for my OC.
Now, my friend has countless amount of followers and supporters. So when they posted a drawing of their OC with the backstory I've written, they were the one being recognised and complimented as the writer of the story.
Meanwhile, as a smaller account, and not as good of an artist as they are, I can't do anything about. I don't want to sound rude by telling them to give me credit, but it will be nice if due credit is given.
What do you guys think?
Should I be the quiet friend and gives up all the credit for the sake of friendship?
Or should I ask for credit, where credit is due?
I think you should mention it casually like 'hey, since the backstory's mine, maybe you could add my name and let it be a collaboration " or something like that but definitely don't let it go. it's your hard work.
It is not about friendship or not, asking your friend to credit the backstory to you isn't going to make you a bad friend. If your friend decides to give up on your relationship as friends, because you asked him/her to give you credit where credit is due, then he/she is overreacting and way out of line.
Yeah. I'd really like to do that but because we're only friends online and they're such a big artist as well, I feel like there's a lot of things I can't do. Especially if you're an artist that posts their stuff on Instagram. There is this IG hierarchy where smaller accounts are treated as "peasants", if you know what I mean. m(。≧Д≦。)m
The peens are so marvelous here ahhh if there are redrawers... I hope the gods bless you mwah ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄
