in one of the chapters from volume 4 i think there’s a flashback of why the grandpa took taichi, he’s not bad but definitely not good. the parents were both arguing about who should take him and the father was saying his new gf was too young to raise a child so the grandpa got angry and told them not to be in taichis life, i feel like if the father wanted something from taichi he would ask it immediately instead of just checking up but idk i could be way wrong maybe he’s up to something or maybe he broke up with his new lady
