Yes he only dressed up as an older boy, because the owner of the mirror, I guess the seller, told him that nobody wants to look into the mirror and see a creepy little boy looking back at them. Which has a point, because if I looked in the mirror and then I saw a child looking back at me, I would be like nope and get the hell out of the house. I guess the guy told him he has to look like a handsome man and so the little boy made him look that way because the owner told him to. At least that's what I think happened in the novel? SK beauty standards are extremely strict and even a single slice of cake is like 400-600 calories. Not to mention the amount of sugar they have. They taste nice, but definitely not a beauty-friendly food since added sugar also makes you bloated.
