Ok, im a bit irked by that person below for implying that the romance of the manga is wasted on "uke-like" and "fucking retarded" reasons.
First, that wasnt the only reason why he ran away. He was conflicted. If Tetsu and Tora will get into a relationship, the gang members will get jealous of Tora. He is worried that he will ruin Tetsu's image who everyone looks up to, thus breaking the gang as a whole. Also, he knows that he will become a target to those gang members. Ryuu is also in danger knowing that the gang members will pull up anything just to get back at him. Really, the reasons why he ran away are not as simple (also not retarded) as oH gOsH hE MiGhT nOt ReCiPrOcAtE mY fEeLiNgS.
Second, Tora knows that there is something between them. Im sure that he already has a hunch of how Tetsu felt about him. But, what he was anxious about was how their relationship would progress. He wasnt scared of how Tetsu would react about him being gay, but how they would handle their relationship from that point. Tora knows very well that Tetsu is the leader of the gang and that everyone looks up to him, and also the fact that Tetsu should not have favorites among the members. Because of these reasons, they would be forced to conceal their relationship. And that setup is very unsettling. Thats what makes him anxious the most. He was scared of taking the risk in entering an unsecured relationship that could ruin their bonds with people and could even potentially put his family, especially his younger brother, in danger. So he decided to cut it off before he becomes too attached.
Third, Tetsu waited for five years because he was scared that Tora would disappear again. He was afraid that the same thing would happen before. He expressed his feelings for Tora by being intimate but what did it result to? Tora ran away. Tetsu is just being cautious.
Lastly, I do agree that 9 years is a very effing slow progress. But. The reasons are not horrible. Id even say that they were realistic and could actually portray real life struggles and anxieties when entering a relationship. That being said, I love this manga and kudos to Author-san for the masterpiece

Am i the only one who doesn't find MADK as dark and disturbing? I didnt get uncomfortable reading this. But I dont consider myself as a hardcore gore lover, because i cant handle gore AT ALL. Reading this was just similar to watching "Adams family" or "A Series of Unfortunate Events"

Yeah, it makes sense and I share your opinion. After the first chapter, I accepted what I was reading with all the gory stuff and twisted moral that's in it, even if it's not my thing to begin with. And well, now, I find this manga so exhilarating, so unique. The mangaka did a really good job building such a world that allowed us to approach and appreciate all the vice she/he depicts in it. And well, it's kinda scary too when you think of it ahah ^^'

CAN I THUMBS UP UR COMMENT, CAN U BE MY FRIEND. YOUR COMMENT IS SPOT ON IN EVERY KIND OF WAY, YOU EXPECT TWISTED PEOPLE TO BE TWISTED. Harada's work is disturbing, its egging you on, it makes you feel unsettled because you can't predict what will happen, but madk? They are so twisted that they become pure just like what you said and when I read ur comment I was like 'this spot-on what the heck, who are you, I entirely agree with you'

I was expecting the manga to reveal that Miyake is Adachis father in the end, but it didnt lol. Or maybe its just written between the lines.
It just came into my mind, because it was unusual for Miyake who planned to tie up and dispose Adachi to ACTUALLY stay by his side when Adachi got stabbed. Even if he was "thankful" that Adachi protected him, calling the ambulance and looking out for Adachi until his lover arrived. Not to mention he let Adachi lay on his lap. For a yakuza with a high rank(?), I find it very unusual. Theyd normally just leave. In this context, leave Adachi behind and bleed to death as payment for his betrayal to Miyake. Id also like to point out that he was constantly following up on Adachi's treatment
If my theory is true, then it actually connects to the absentee father Adachi backstory told. And what if Miyake didnt accidentally find Adachi on the streets? What if he was actually watching his son all along and just made it as an excuse to take him in? Twisted way of caring for someone, nonetheless.
The scene with Takahashi's family threw me off track. It was like a weird dream that doesn't make sense at all. Takahashi's children and wife were unnatural and they even seemed like robotic. And who the heck wears a business attire and formal dress for a walk? Not to mention the water jug and glass ಠ,_」ಠ
It's called over-the-top comedy, which is frequently employed by Japanese media. Have you watched Hana Kimi the original TV series? You'll see what I mean.
Ah, I get what you mean: exaggeration. Thanks : ) But the manga in general is not funny, so the supposed over-the-top comedy just came out weird and unnerving lol except the last part where his daughter was chanting something
I think if it were adapted into an anime where they can include special effects, the comedy bits wouldn't sail past the readers.
