thinking about it for a moment ..
the older brother has totally rejected guilt, becoming a fake victim. For all these years, he launched free hate on the VP - that is, he was so envious that he did not want to take the blame. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
i don't think he rejected guilt, as i'n he's acting the part of the injured party.
i think it was too much to bear. as in he didnt want to hurt him - as in kill - but kids do stuff without thinking about the outcome, and here also he thought the most would happen that he would be found later in the day, and as the older brother though the younger one was to "full-off-himself" so this would knock-him-down-a-peg- i.e put him in his place, but when he was not only missing for 4 days and then to find out why and where he was being held, all because of a prank he pulled, it was too much and that broke him, mentally he wasn't able to deal with the reality that he was to blame. i feel sorry for both boys, each for a different reason.
The older brother did reject guilt, he used his brother's traumatic experience to avoid taking responsibility for his part in his brother's disappearance. If he regretted his actions even just a little bit he would have came clean to his parents, at least then we could have said he didn't intentionally leave his brother alone and that it was a prank that went bad, but he chose to lie and carry on as if he did nothing wrong then when his brother showed up he again chose to avoid taking responsibility but instead continued to reject guilt and accountability for his actions. He knew right from wrong, he overheard his parents talking about how it would affect his brother, he never stopped to think about how his brother is suffering, he selfishly only thought about himself and how to escape the blame.
okay, I honestly don't feel so guilty about having judged the older brother, also because he treated the vice president badly, making the fake person in front of others too. But I apologize for saying that he was lying- that is, he lied, but unintentionally.
However, he continues to be unpleasant and I still consider him hateful. Now I have to know why the family decided to lie to their children.
Sorry, I don't speak English very well.
I think the family decided to lie to the older brother only and asked the vice president to keep the truth to himself.
As to why they lied, I'm guessing here, is because they didn't want to hurt the older brother, who believed his own story to be the truth, and because he was young, and could have damage him psychologically even more
