mariko’s adventure starts eventfully when her older husband dies on the way to their honeymoon in paris. mariko mourns, she meets new people, she goes to parties, she falls in love. part nina the starry bride, part emma, this manga gives a ghibli feel: heartwarming scenes of people who love each other amidst the backdrop of political struggle. i particularly really love how this manga portrays intimate gestures… the cuddles are strong in this one!! 8/10
