what’s y’all’s opinion on webtoonized manga? i personally hate it, and don’t know why anyone would want it. but im open to hear others out! why do you/don’t you like it?

    Mustard123 May 14, 2024 2:13 am

I hate it I think it makes the manga look cheap as hell and very amateur

    scubbadubba May 14, 2024 2:21 am

Don't personally like the webtoon format at all because it means less content per chapter compared to manga panels

    Fangtasia May 14, 2024 2:56 am

I only like them when they are colored, otherwise I prefer the manga.

    Delano May 14, 2024 3:58 am

The scroll format tends to ruin the pacing. If you're gonna make it a webtoon that should be the plan from the start, rather than trying to force a traditional manga into a webtoon format by chopping it up in weird ways (if that's what you're referring to)

    Grogg May 14, 2024 5:32 am

I prefer manhwa and webtoon format, it suits my tastes more. I think that some manga packs panels into pages, and there is not as much detail in the art. (Not always ofc)
But I was raised by trad manga so I’ll always have love for it. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Pros: more frequent updates since they’re usually weekly releases

Cons: less panels per page so less plot packed it and they’re generally a lot slower plot wise than manga from what I’ve seen. I feel like the pages fly by and I’m done with the chapter too quickly

agreed!!! the panel placement on the original is there for a purpose

definitely agree that some manga packs in panels. i usually avoid those tbh because i feel like the mangaka that do it are just starting out and generally don’t have great storytelling.
