i liked the novel so much!! he was NEVER going to change like other MLs, this is not love story, it’s very tragic and angst. he’s truly a psychopath, so he needed a punishment for everything he did and that was being a “zombie” tied to the person he loves (MC) who can leave him at any moment. the concept of an immortal and a zombie is also very good. i know it sounds like a disaster, but the ending of the novel is pretty good! so don’t get your hopes down lol
