Hmmm. Somehow I feel that the mother of fl was not wanting to die, but instead loved the emperor and beared a child even if it meant her death. Like Diana the mother of the fl in Who made me a princess. Estella never said her mom was waiting/ wanting to die. And she can feel the emotions of others, so she would have been able to tell if her mom had toughts like that. (=・ω・=)
