AGAIN, SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 412

Some people have been saying that Deku can't lose OFA because he opened the manga/anime by saying "This is how I became the greatest hero," but him losing OFA isn't impossible. To begin with, being the greatest hero doesn't necessarily mean that he has to continue the journey after all this mess with Shigaraki is over. It could be a one and done scenario where Izuku defeats him (one of the worst villains in their recent history), loses his powers and essentially retires as a hero with powers, but is still considered the best because of all he achieved in the time he had...

But I also think it gives Horikoshi an opportunity to...I guess kind of change or solidify the underlying meaning to Izuku's narrative?

One of the things that always bothered me with BnHA was that Izuku was never considered worthwhile until All Might gave him OFA. It was the equivalent of telling someone "You aren't special until you ARE special" rather than "you can do it even if you aren't special". It felt doubly weird that Izuku (and Uraraka) give meaning to the name Deku as "I can do it", as opposed to the original meaning of "useless or worthless" so, you can read further into his hero name as being "I can do it — even though I'm useless" ... but then him getting a quirk directly reinforces the negative idea that Izuku really can't do anything until he's *made* useful by having a quirk. Does that make sense?

It felt like a weird message to tell your audience, especially coming from a creator who has been so consistent in giving various sincere motivational messages throughout the series through other characters.

I think, if written well, Izuku losing OFA, and that sacrifice of becoming quirkless having some underlying significance could change that message. I think it would be hard though, without making it cheesy or weakening the story somehow, but Horikoshi is a magnificent writer so...

If my ideas don't make sense btw, I'm sorry. My brain has been half absent today and it's hard to find the right words I'm looking for.

Ah...I was gonna say that if Kartein taught anymore ppl this new technique, then he and Jiwoo would have to start their own faction called "Cult of Cats" but....

On another note, I'm curious what happens to the conscience of the animal when they take over the body. I hope they aren't just gone

IceQueen4U created a topic of Dead Mount Death Play

This is rather long:

I actually haven't read the manga yet, and have only watched up to the first 2 episodes of the second season so far, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Lemmings' identity will be revealed to be someone rather famous.

From the very beginning of the anime, one of the first things Polka/CG takes notice of in the modern world is an advertisement for an idol's new single. It's a passing remark, meant to show that CG is unfamiliar with this version of the world and how various things work despite a lack of magic, and is easy to brush off as *just* that — a passing remark with zero significance beyond the obvious; But you might have noticed how often that idol's face pops up.

Throughout the first season, he's shown in passing fairly often: billboards, street signs, I think he was in a page of a newspaper that one of the characters was reading at one point, etc... The fact that the studio took the time to not only showcase this seemingly random character so often, but also develop a song for him and give him a voice and *name*, when so many other passing characters do NOT feels intentional.
Then there's the fact that Lemmings hardly speaks (And of course is overly cautious in keeping their face and any other identifiable part of them hidden). If he were a well known singer, it would make sense for him to be wary of not only showing his face, but also making sure no one can recognize him by his voice or hair or even basic stature and physicality.
Lemmings typically wears a form-fitting but somewhat loose hooded jacket and trousers with combat boots which typically add 1-2 inches in height.

Lemmings has a "main job" (which they apparently asked Shinomiya Takeru not to interfere with) where it kind of feels like it doesn't have a "set" schedule meaning X-amount of hours on X-days throughout the week.
Lemmings is able to do all these shady jobs around the clock for ST, but ST (as per their agreement) will give them time off that doesn't interfere with their main job, and I think this matches well with a job as a singer/model.
There are times where you spend days or weeks on end, raking in the hours to do recordings, photo and/or MV shoots, commercials or talk shows or interviews etc...followed by long periods of sitting around and waiting for more jobs to come in when all those things are done.

Admittedly, I don't have any actual solid evidence to provide, but I thought this was worth mentioning since I found it curious how much I saw the idol appear.

Of course, Lemmings could be a mummy, which is a running theory I've seen other people talk about, but I do think it's weird that the animation studio would put questionable effort into a character that isn't REALLY a character, y'know? Like, the only people we see reoccur throughout the series, even in passing, have all turned out to be proper characters, not just another face in the crowd.
So even if Lemmings doesn't turn out to be the idol, I do think the idol will become more significant at some point.

Again, I haven't read the manga yet, so if this has already been proven false in any way, well...That was a waste of my and your time, sorry ( ̄∇ ̄")

I'm planning on watching the rest of the 2nd season when I get some time to do so, and then continue with the manga, so I might add an edit to this in the future if there's anything new I find. If someone has anything to add or disprove this, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Also, if you read this far, you're a great person with either a lot of time on your hands to read my baseless comment, or a lot of patience. Either way, thank you. You're a real one!

IceQueen4U created a topic of The Devil's Boy

If you're bored and are looking for a quick read where you don't get TOO invested with the characters, but can sympathize with them (bonus if it has an edgy quality and is jam packed with action scenes), then this is probably for you.

Personally, I don't think it's *great* but it is decent and, if I were bored and wanted exactly what I wrote above, I would re-read again.

The story started off good, with a solid premise and a character you could root for and a whole ass *list* of characters you hated. Somewhere along the way, you learn about some of those hateful characters and come to feel like maybe...they don't deserve death, but they do deserve SOMETHING terrible happen to them. You still hate them, but you come to understand that some things are not always exactly as they appear.
There was a decent twist with another character caught in the middle and given an ultimatum, and then another character who was a lighter counterpart to our MC who is also easy to root for, and you kind of want him to be able to change the MCs mind about revenge. Throw in some meddling angels and demons, boom, a good story verging on great if they just stick the landing.
The middle of the story was even good at least partially way through, and I did enjoy MCs edgy rampage.

Then it's like the author and team realized that the plot was too common and predictable, so they threw in some extra details that, honestly, made the plot a tiny bit messy and convoluted.

Sihyun, the guy caught in the middle of good and evil, saving someone good and obviously beaten down to the extreme or saving a past friend turned evil (so he thinks) was presented as a character that would matter. His involvement in the past was rather important, and his task in the present given to him by the angel while also being thwarted by the demon WAS important...but he might as well not exist. In fact, he doesn't exist for a WHILE until suddenly he does again because of reasons.

The demons are presented as evil meddlers, because...well, that's what they do, but the *angels* are just as bad to the point you don't want either side to win but end up thinking at least the demons are honest about their nature. Both sides do mention several times that God in this universe is basically a greedy gambler who doesn't know when to call it quits, but the involvement of the angels and God is never fully acknowledged by the characters you feel should receive this information (like the main characters), and so it's never addressed as being an actual problem where someone will be held liable. Like the angels or God who are 100% equally to blame for all of this ever happening.

The fight scenes between MC and MA (main antagonist) are often dragged out only for one of them to be saved at a critical moment by Deus Ex Machina.

The police get involved but they're literally useless the entire way through, and then there's small details that just don't make much sense but can be overlooked etc, etc..

The action scenes are pretty good! But they so lack originality. Basically, they took the interesting bits of Tokyo Ghoul, Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, and maybe D.Gray Man, then mashed them together. You'll have fun looking at the visuals and the layout of the scenes, but you'll look at the character designs and think "hmm...I've seen that before, haven't I?"

DO GIVE THIS A TRY, IT IS A DECENT READ but don't expect to be amazed.

I actually liked this small semi-unrelated special intermission thingy chapter! It was actually uplifting especially since I recently changed careers and feel somewhat out of my depth. I've been feeling discouraged, wondering if I made a mistake or if I'm not good enough, but these small messages of overcoming obstacles and learning from them (and knowing I am NOT the only one even when it feels like I am) make me feel better.

I wonder if more and more people feel like this as of late though, because I see it mentioned a lot more often recently?

He's such a crazy wild child, I love it
(ノ≧∇≦)ノ

Seeing him at his strongest, even if only temporarily, really makes me wonder when we'll finally get a look into WHO managed to take him down enough that he had to resort to inhabiting a random cat's body. He's now shown himself to be, without a doubt, on equal footing or greater than the Top 10, so I'm really curious who has the ability to go against him.

Yes, Raion, sweetie!!! Get your revenge thrice fold. I hope this will bring him some modicum of closure to that painful past.

Aww

Their way of loving is rather messed up, but it's also just really cute and I love to see them together. It's the type of love that only works for them because they are them.
Them hugging when he properly remembered her made me want to tear up!

Now...how do they be together once this is over? This *is* a world inside a novel, one where he can't stay forever even if he wanted to... I recall him telling her about that thing he can do where he can turn someone he's killed into some being that can follow him though, but I thought it only worked on beings of the actual tower, or special relic type people like the blonde.

IceQueen4U created a topic of The Servant / Employer

I think I read somewhere that this only has 50 chapters. So we only have 6 more to go, but it feels like we have quite a bit to get through before things are resolved, especially if we're going for a good ending.
Considering that, it feels like this will either end one of three ways:
1) a rushed feel
2) purposefully unresolved tension to some aspects, which can lead to an ambiguous ending [I don't dislike those if they're done tastefully.]
3) an end in tragedy [which I don't...love...but can still accept and like if, again, it's done well].

The issue with a *full* good ending is that with the limited chapters left, I doubt things will be resolved in a way that makes sense and doesn't feel rushed:
The matter with the detective, the aftermath, the psychological and traumatic effects on their relationship including Yeonho's longterm abuse and how they move on from that... I would definitely prefer an ambiguous end— or even a tragic one— over a rushed experience that leaves a lot to be desired.

IceQueen4U created a topic of Act-age

I remember when this first came out and I was reading it on a weekly basis, then dropped it for a long time because I couldn't stand waiting every week for a new chapter.

That's how good it was.

Every chapter had me hanging on every scene, wishing the chapters were longer, wanting to see what came next, watching Yonagi's growth and the people around her, routing for them all. At the time, I'd also been half-heartedly pursuing acting in theater, so it was incredible to see the mindset of various characters and how it can compare to the reality I was living at the time, how I could relate, how I was different, using this material as a form of advice to better myself and try new things (it actually worked in some cases, and is applicable to more than just the field of acting)....

In any case, what I'm saying is that I felt connected to Act Age and really enjoyed the progression of the work and its characters, and was looking forward to binge-reading the series — then I discovered it was canceled and why, and I have to say that I'm sorry for the victims, sorry for the fans, sorry to Usazaki Shiro, sorry for everyone who put so much work and effort into this only for it to be plunged down the drain by the actions of one guy.

Usazaki Shiro was apparently offered the opportunity to continue this with another writer, but they turned it down because they thought it would be an offense to the victims to publish a work originally created by their abuser. I commend her decision and thank them for their forethought and compassion.

Yeonho's face at the end: "Don't be suspicious...Don't be suspicious!" Also, he kind of looks like that one meme with the monkey looking sideways. You know the one.

Wow....authors really be saying "KILL THEM ALL" this year, huh?

Waiting for the day when Yoojin-ssi can finally run wild and wreck all those greedy b—...bees.
I love it best when the soft and silent ones go crazy, and putting either brother in negative spotlight or harms way is a surefire way to drive them both insane~

Also, Noah, baby, be careful of the blonde lady. She seems sweet and kind, but something about her says she might potentially be a little hungry for that dragon d, huh?

That the gods and godesses who summoned the heroes are not really good, and that the Saintess is a liar, but anyone who paid attention to the first 10 chapters already knew that, within 2 chapters actually (at least about the divine beings), so nothing new was actually learned.

We've wasted 90 chapters on nothing, and haven't had any significant character development in like the past 70+ chapters...
Why is this story so boring now? I'm thinking about dropping it, but I've already come this far..... But I'm worried about hanging in there as well. It took nearly 100 chapters to explain virtually nothing and DO nothing but create a senseless OP character with a pointless harem no one wanted. It's not even a good harem. At least the true MC isn't dumb, but the story is so pointless right now.
Ahhhhh (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

With each passing chapter, I get a little more sad. Of course, because characters i like are dying or at least seriously injured, but also: Everything that's been set up in the series so far has been answered, or is in the process of finding its conclusion... So what comes next?
I'm certain the series will end after this arc (after some sort of conclusion to the future of the characters who survive), so we'll have to say goodbye soon. I'm horrible at goodbyes!!!!!

I'm on the 82nd chapter but I'm just really confused on what's going on. Like, I get the jist of what the issue is, but when it comes to details on what exactly is happening and why and what it means for the characters, I'm just lost.

I thought it might be because of the legal jargon I'm not overly familiar with, but I don't think that's the case...Then I realized after reading some other comments that, apparently, some info is lost between the R15 version (which I'm reading) and the R18/Mature version. Like, some details and conversations are lost? Is this true?

IceQueen4U created a topic of Doravmon

I haven't read it yet, and the comments are sending me, but the images I see in the Photos About This Manga are already cursed....I'm terrified to look bc I already know there's no scrubbing my brain from what will undoubtedly be a monstrosity...but do I? Do I dare curse myself for life? ╥﹏╥

Yo, can't tell if you were serious, but be careful saying you're gonna send money to certain people. So many scammers these days on online platforms who will try to trick you. Just looking out for you because many fall for it. Wait it out. This has happened before and they'd fixed it in a couple days.
