Chang was actually jealous of Ed but after he saw how kind Ed really is he fell in love. But he could not come in terms with his hatred for Ed and that he was a man. So he did what he thought would keep Ed bound to him while not dealing with his own feelings. Of course, when Glenn came in the picture, Chang saw that he was losing Ed and in his hasty attempt made matter worse.
All in all, Ed and Glenn are the same kind of people, manipulative and controlling but Glenn realized his mistake and ask for forgiveness while Chang did not.
