You do know that misogyny is “the hatred and contempt of women” pointing out that straight women have a history or poorly portraying queer relationships is just a lukewarm take that’s been said a thousand times. Just like how white authors have a history of poorly portraying characters of color.
You’re making a semantic argument out of ‘queer quarries would never’ when it’s obvious they do but straight authors DISPROPORTIONATELY portray queer relationships in toxic ways because they don’t do any proper research into what it’s like to be a part of the LGBTQA+ community.
Straight authors, male and female, have tokenized POC and members of the queer community in their writing and it is VERY rare to see a Manhwa/manhua/manga portray a gay relationship without abuse, r@pe, non-con, etc. that the yaoi genre and BL as a whole have been bastardized into fetish content that caters to a straight female audience.
Like the brass tax here is that the majority of this content from East Asian countries like China, Korea, and Japan IS fetish content for straight women. Because straight men are not the ones buying it, and queer folks only make up a small percent of the population.
Heterosexual women can write a good queer story but the percent of toxic horrendous r@pe driven plots for gay romance overshadows that by far. Like I don’t consider yaoi and BL ‘queer’ media because the majority of it is fetish content written BY straight women FOR straight women. Complete with over masculine ‘top’ and over feminine self-insert ‘bottom’.

Most of the content I enjoy isn’t fluffy slice of life queer stories, I like complex flawed characters and imperfect relationships, but yaoi stories have character’s flaws as ‘r@pist’ ‘doesn’t respect consent’ and ‘abusive’ and not normal human flaws like ‘insecure’ ‘judgmental’ or ‘self destructive’. I don’t need a happy ending. I don’t need perfect Mary Jane’s. But I’m so SO sick of straight authors creating fetish content about a community that displays the worst of what any dysfunctional relationship has to offer and pretend like the overly possessive bf is hot for being controlling and abusive.
Morally black characters are meant to be criminals and irredeemable and they have a place in certain stories but the amount of morally black r@pists in yaoi and BL comics is disgusting because the story is meant to be about romance or relationships. Morally black characters are horrible ‘love interests’ because they’re not MEANT to get a redemption because there’s no way to redeem them plot-wise unless the person they’ve hurt just forgets their trauma and forgives them.
If you like reading psychological horror abuse stories about the queer community that honestly says WAY more about you than it does me.

The few shite stories about gay men written by gay men pale in comparison to the endless mountain of r@pe plot yaoi straight female authors have produced. I’ll take a shite story about gay people written by a gay person vs a shite story written by a straight person about gay people any day, at least the one written by a gay person feel as if it’s trying to write about something it’s uneducated on and perpetuating bad incredibly misinformed stereotypes like ‘gay men commit SA’ the way straight female yaoi authors do when they write 98% of all their works including some form of aggressive non-con and that’s if it isn’t straight up r@pe. The gay writers typically don’t write r@pe scenes as feeling good the way straight female authors do, if they include those scenes at all.
I really want to know what is going on in this author’s mind every week when they decide to reinforce how much the alpha is an unapologetic r@pist.
Like I imagine them sitting in the writers room, looking at the script and thinking “no, I haven’t made absolute sure to remind the readers that the alpha is a sex criminal who will readily repeat his crimes - which he feels absolutely no remorse for - enough yet, let me just add another non-con scene. I do think it’s funny that a few readers managed to forget the alpha kidnapped, chained the beta to a bed, r@ped him for marathon week long sec against the beta’s will, and neglected to give him proper medical care, but the author decided “no, I need to remind the readers exactly who the male lead is” and gave him a r@pe fantasy dream. There’s no character development because there’s no CHARACTER to be had, the beta is a sentient ‘I’ll always be in your back pocket, second choice is fine, when/if the person you choose over me time and time again ends things, you can rest assured that I am pathetic enough to welcome you back with open arms” DOORMAT.
For a person with abandonment issues to cling to someone who blatantly tells you that you’re a stand in for someone else and they’d leave you (and did leave you on multiple occasions) in a heartbeat for their real soulmate, is WILDDD and also just pathetic. The alpha’s entire personality is just adding various crimes to their growing list of charges. And the omega is roleplaying as prolific stalker Joe Goldberg without the murder.
Like the author is basically playing a game of “if the character is hot enough, can a poorly written redemption arc - which will likely consist of the alpha being a sadboi and crying about his hardships to his victim (the beta) who will immediately take him back because the beta literally does not know what self respect is - make my readers forget I chose to (for no good plot or character developing reason at all) make the male lead a r@pist who chained the beta to a bed for days and deprived him of proper medical care ?”
