Does anyone know a manga or webtoon (but manga would be better) about a software developer/programmer that is centered around their work? Something like a slice-of-life kind of story. I'm okay with all gengres, but not too much ecchi would be good ^^

I'm starting my first real job next week and searching for something to read to soothe my nerves ^^'

I'm thinking about buying the movie "It's Kind of a Funny Story", but I'm not sure wether it is worth the money.

Does anyone here know the movie and can tell me what you thought about it?

    moonbears July 14, 2019 7:48 pm

you could watch it online first

    Sunshine Riptide July 14, 2019 7:54 pm

I haven't seen the movie but I definitely recommend the book, it's one of my favourites

The book was amazing, I definitely recommend you give it a read rather than watching the film. Not sure how good the film adaptation turned out though

Can someone recommend me a book (not a manga, but a "real" book), where the main character has social anxiety and/or depression (but preferable with social anxiety), that is a good read? It can have a bad ending, but I would prefer a happy one ^^

Me too. I wanna read them

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. The main character has such bad social anxiety that it made me feel anxious too. It all turns out well in the end though

Thanks you. I already heard of this book, but I didn't know the main character had social anxiety, now I will definitely look for it ^^

Sorry, I don't use wattpad and was more looking for a printed book, but maybe it is something for someone else who is following this question.

I just found the book "Eliza and Her Monsters" by Francesca Zappia while looking for books with google.
Does anyone know this book and can recommend it?

I strongly and whole heartedly recommend "a monster calls" by Patrick Ness (please read the book instead of watching the movie, it's not even that long, I remember it was kind of a short read), It's labeled as a young adult, but I kid you not I had tears in my eyes when I read it and I'm well in my twenties. The MC is a boy, and while it's not explicitely said, there are clear signs that he struggles with depression, bullying, and profound sadness.

Also, there's an M/M novel called "Broken" by Nicola Harken in which one of the main characters had severe depression and struggles with suicidal thoughts (For the record, I didn't like it much because the writing style wasn't much my cup of tea, so I gave it a 3/5 stars, but some people gave it 5/5 so maybe give it a try?)

Anyway, I'm also always looking for books that talk (seriously and in a well researched way) about mental illness and psychological struggles so if you find something that really appeals to you, do share it ^^
