We're doing weekly stories to read together, we do weekly vc events every friday, I ask daily manga related questions, and you can ask for recommendations and discuss manga in general. My hot take is that Jinx is better than BJ Alex. Not for the right reasons, but because with BJ Alex there's literally no enjoyment or magic with it, but Jinx is funny with how bad and ridiculous it is. It's the difference between like a 4/10 movie and a 1/10, the 4/10 is bad and painfully forgettable, but the 1/10 is so bad it's good. 1 reply
You ever been talking with your uncle and he reveals some weird piece if lore that doesn't make sense but is somehow true? Like how they drink energy drinks to go to bed or how they somehow own a sword from the Knights of Columbus?
You know how like a third of men, when something bad happens, start smacking their head and say something like "Fuck up! Fuck up! Fuck up!"? I think it'd be funny if I started doing that, thoughts?
You ever read a decent or even good manhwa or manga that just takes a turn that absolutely decimates any goodwill it built up through one scene or storyline?
Let's not do power fantasies here, you might want to beat the shit out of the guy from Jinx, but I can guarantee no one here can. I think I kick anyone from Lost in the Clouds or Cherry Blossoms After Winter's ass HANDILY.
I feel like a lot of authors want to have their cake and eat it when it comes to tones and themes, and it just doesn't work most the time. Like there will be a light fluffy story and the it turns out there was a rape backstory, or there's a dark psychological but with wacky moments. If its a good author, they might be able to get away with it, but if it's something under 12 chapters, it fails of most of the time and one casts a shadow over the other. And I think shows a lack of confidence to be unable to just stick to one idea and commit to it.
