I got into manga and anime because of shonen because of my dad, but I developed a taste for shoujo later on. I loved shoujo as a teen cause it was about someone falling for someone, all the warm feelings you get when you fall in love. Growing older, I grew more spiteful of love and experienced my heartbreaks and losses. Shoujo became a bit of a joke to me, filled with bad cliches and disproportionate drama.
I feel like this manga is a love letter to relationships. A reminder of how love can be the simplest thing in the world. It doesn't shy away from the bad stuff but doesn't blow everything out of proportion with unnecessary drama and cliches. It perfectly balances the sweetness against the other unpleasant flavors of love. A slow but sudden fall into loving each other, enjoyed the whole read.
Def recommend this to anyone looking for something sweet. FL did come off a bit much during the first few chapters, but she pulled through for me. She's such a girl's girl, definitely was surprised this was released around the 2000s.
I was also scared that the ML would be the usual case of wet blanket and oblivious, but he's surprisingly proactive in the relationship.
