It could have been more if Ian has a bit more of character than just a psycho, Daniel been more than just a crybaby, the baby should have been in their live, and the ending wasn't this abrupt. Like, the fact that he's saying "there's something going on between them" sounds like a homewrecker already. If he already has like a hunch he should have been like "ouh wait are they dating I shouldn't mindlessly try to get the attention of the handsome author I admire anymore". The thought of him saying something going on is like he wants for that something to end and have it with him instead
