No guys because I'm seriously crying.
Taegun is /engraved/ in Eunsung's past as something akin a light in his darkest moments. I don't think Eunsung really wanted to die, he just saw Taegun in the dark and that was enough to stop him. That's why he sees Taegun in his dreams offering to save him, because in reality he doesn't want to die. And he hates it, maybe is even guilty about keep on living, and after his dream, he thinks it's Taegun's fault he couldn't die that night and he's still alone, painfully lonely. (So maybe that's why his nightmare is seeing himself die that night. That's what would have happened if Taegun had never looked his way, because that brief moment in the dark, saved him, and he wanted to live).
Taegun ends up saving Eunsung unintentionally, being himself, a guy who cares about others and not because he pities them. And that's enough to Eunsung.
And after years, Eunsung thought that his feelings for him were a thing of the past. He sees that Taegun has become what he always thought of him: a hero. Someone he respects.
So when Taegun needed help, he thought he could do that for him, and just that. Not because he had second intentions in the first place, but because he just thought it'd be nice to be of help to him even if just a little just like Taegun was capable of helping him in his lowest. He just wanted to be of help.
And in the end he couldn't help but fall in love again and admit his feeling ╥﹏╥
