This was ass. Like even though they're in a relationship it doesn't feel like it which makes sense but doesn't make for a fun read. Especially since the top was so over the top like he really didn't have to go about things like that tbh but eh. Kay is likable but he did very dumb things with no purpose which was annoying .
It's cute to see them bicker but it's also very annoying when they don't have many "romantic" moments at all. The art though is so beautiful and if it wasn't for it I would've dropped a while back. The plot was also very rushed to put on top of everything well actually not quite. The plot was pretty good until it kinda was just done with itself and moved on THEN it became a little muddled imo. Rather than rushed it just ended very quick when it didn't feel like it was over truly. It wasn't too terrible though and I actually think if u want a quick interesting but simultaneously no brainer read I'd recommend this. Plus zigril is hot so that too!
I enjoyed it precisely because I dodj t read this as a "romance" at ALL. Very clearly psychological horror comedy BL vibes, and I much prefer it to it having romantic moments (since Zigril is an insane rapists and I HAte seeing them get redeemed in manhwa constantly ). I like that for once the rapist kinda stays irredeemable
Well if the romance is front and center and if I don't vibe with it it's hard to find entertainment for me personally. Honestly to me the psychological horror vibes were mainly with the short lived mystery of the towns they visited and allat. I think the thing is the intention behind their relationship is romantical and I just don't like their chemistry together. If the plot was actually more focused on the horror aspects than this would be a lot more enjoyable for me.
I meant that their relationship isn't romantic to me it's also psychological horror. Like akin to reading killing stalking, where the rs is part of the psychological horror. Except this story has more comedic moments. That's the way I read it (not saying ur interpretation is wrong) because Kay is obviously not in a happy situation by the end he's just accepting of his horrible circumstances. Like it's not really a happy romantic end
I know what u were trying to say but what I'm saying is the author was clearly depicting this not in a intended physco horror way. It was written in a light hearted manner with no real regards to the psychological aspects of what he's gone through. That's why it doesn't ponder on the horrors of his situation. It paints a annoyance around it more than anything. Very few moments the story takes Kay very srs tbh. I can understand ur view on it but to me it's obviously depicted as a dark romance and a shitty one at that. Not every story with dark themes is inherently in the psychological genre.
I agree that not all dark themes = psychological horror, but I think the author clearly intended it to not be happy end for Kay, and it's kinda obvious that he is j accepting of his situation rather than in love w Zigril. I also agree that it's written kinda light hearted (which is why I said it's played for comedy) but I don't think it was meant to be a romantic one but more so a dark romance where it's kinda tragedic (but in a comical way) if that makes sense. Like Zigril here is irredeemable and he hasn't gotten any character development as opposed to other dark romance where they have a happy end with redeemed rapists. I've also read the novel where Kay's and Zigrils feelings are more explicitly stated which adds to my understanding of the story. At the same time, if u feel that it came across as being more romantic I don't particularly disagree because it's up to ur interpretation but I j wanted to explain my POV and how that made the story better for me (because I wasn't expecting it in the first place)!

Zigril was over the top because he's a an obsessive psycho who cannot handle the idea of rejection at all and used that as a way to control and keep Kay. Like before feeding him the flower, he wasn't planning to keep Kay (j for a couple months until he got bored) but when he realised Kay did not like him so much that he cried, Zigril got extremely upset (who bruised) and fed him the flower to keep him tied to him for life. It's irrational behaviour! If you want a better understanding of the characters and the rs I would recommend j reading the last couple chapters (which is what I read, except don't read the last side story it's incest )
To me a happy ending doesn't really equate to that factor at all. An end is an end no matter the genre. But also their end really isn't that sad? He becomes an empress living in royalty and gets used to zigrils company and has a baby. Like the author is currently writing about their pregnancy life rn and who knows what's more to come tbh. Yeah its sad in a sense since he has to stay with zigril but I mean nothing about the tragedies of that is explored for me to classify it in the psychological genre. It still stands to me that it's a dark romantic comedy at best. They do however have potential to indulge in that genre and really explore their relationship in a different lens but they don't. Also for me as a reader I shouldn't need to make the story better tbh it comes naturally. In my perspective I can't see it as such and it doesn't seem like the author even wants me too. In the novel sure things can be different but I'm reading the manhwa where things aren't, and that's what I'm critiquing. It's fine to explain ur POV I'm always down for argumentive conversations! I'm glad u enjoyed the story for what it was lmao.

I don't mind troubling themes I indulge and love stories like that but I already stated that in which u replied to is that ik zigril is messed up and what he does isn't normal behaviour so I don't really understand you telling me what I already know. What I don't like about the story is that their relationship isn't even explored enough for me to care abt their relationship. There's plenty of non typical romantical relationships in yaoi where they explore it to levels that elevate the story and make it being their story worthwhile. I didn't care for their relationship because it lacked depth. What I mean by 'romantic' moments is why do they even have desire for each other, why does kay soften up to him, why does zigril feels this strongly about him? Things that lead up to their current relationship if u will. Which is why I originally out quotation marks over the word. However romantic wasn't the word I should've used in that situation.

I love seeing couples switch but like not every couple needs to. I'm getting the impression that most ppl saying this (esp when the bottom is bulky) don't really care about seeing them "switch" but they just want the roles to be different entirely. I honestly think these two would be fine as switches but like it's definitely not something that's needed for every 5 comments to be asking for it .
