There's a differences between two works.
I'm quite shock to learn that in the novel, at this point he's still an elementary school student.
Because there'll be a transition when he graduated from elementary school and get into art junior high school. And his female friends (I forgot her name) goes into different school.
And it much more heartbreaking seeing an elementary school student being so considerate and sometimes even put himself down several times.
The novel is such an wholesome read when everyone tried to help him and he was broken so much that the process is heartbreaking.
But, after several breakdown and he hyperventilate in the middle of shooting, he finally get help he need for.
