It shows the real life of a Japanese gay rights activist so I think that understanding the life that gay people go through, especially ones in not accepting countries such as Japan, is important to those who consume the BL genre so that we can see who exactly were reading about and using as entertainment and the reality of it all. As a queer person this is also good for people looking to understand themselves and their identities.
