Have yall noticed that whenever Brother Qui saves Jian Yi it kinda makes Zhan Zheng Xi feel incompetent? There's always a close up of his face but we don't know what hes thinking.. last time Jian Yi was attacked he felt horrible he wasn't able to protect him.

I don’t think so. This is the first time Zhan Zheng Xi has witnessed Qiu help Jian Yi, and there was no other time he ever witnessed or knew about it because Jian Yi hasn’t really let him in on what’s happening. which is why even at one point Zhan complained to Jian Yi about being kept in the dark because Jian Yi doesn’t let him know what’s going on.
The expression was shock (not incompetence, his eyes are wide in shock) when he saw Qiu because he didn’t know Qiu was following them — remember they tried escaping from him two chapters ago. He didn’t at all look hurt or incompetent or gloomy. He looked angry in the first half of the chapter and then livid and determined to get Jian Yi out of there and then shocked when seeing Qiu. You have to remember that Zheng Xi is strong, he did fight to protect Jian Yi before, with lil Mo and was winning the fight by a landslide (before Mo panicked and nearly killed him by slamming a rock in his head). I sincerely feel like Zhan Zheng Xi would have fought those men if he had to but he was clearly trying to avoid that as it’s the worst outcome and just wanted to get away. He wasn’t afraid of telling them to fuck off or shoving them. Personally (again just me lol) I find it easy to read his expressions.
Of course people like Qiu and He Cheng are stronger than all the boys (He Tian, Zhan Zheng Xi, Jian Yi, and Mo) but they’ve been trained for many years in the mafia to be bodyguards. Even if Zhan Zheng Xi doesn’t know their background, he knows they’re trained from somewhere. So I don’t think any of the kids would compare themselves to these grown fully trained adults and feel bad about it.
The only reason Zhan Zheng Xi felt insecure that one time was because he was against Qiu who he thought was an enemy at the time. Zhan Zheng Xi no longer sees Qiu as an enemy but as someone who also wants to protect Jian Yi.. they now have the same goal so he was clearly not worried or thinking about feeling insecure, about that at all in this scene. He Tian also felt hurt and sad when he couldn’t fully protect Mo on the night they were attacked by a gang and Mo ended up in the hospital — which later Qiu and He Cheng helped out with. If anything it should make Xi feel elated because he has an ally to help out. It similar to when He Tian used Qiu and other guards to threaten She Li, spilling soda over him. Zhan Zheng Xi and He Tian would want their loved ones to be helped even if not by them.
I think Xi felt incompetent that time when he thought He Cheng and Qiu were enemies/kidnapping Jian Yi but no other time since then since now they’re allies.
The character drawings are really good in this manhua. Yes to the dark skin mc! I like how the woman looks aged and natural looking, unlike where men only age in mangas/manhuas . The plot actually makes sense to me so far, I don't understand how people feel its disconnected? One night stands are a pretty common plot device..?
Y'all, remember how in the beginning they said he only killed older men around his fathers age? Why on earth would he want to kill Jonathan? I think its definitely the friends bf, he shows more traits of psychopathy, he's a kleptomaniac and he's too involved with his bfs best friend and all these coincidence on how he met him. I think the brother figured it out; who the real killer is, and realized his brother is the target. I think Robert is the copycat though, he's probably tryna lure the real killer to "protect" Jonathan, he seemed too invested in his nightmares. Plus he has access to henchmen who could've stolen the 'serial killing' book from the big bro and plant it in the scene of crime. Notice how the new killing started just when Jonathan met up with his friends to complain about meeting Kister. Finally, I think there might have been some history between Kister and Jonathan right before his accident where he fell from a cliff.
Literally thought I was the only one who thought that!!
