i was afraid to start this since i know it is tragedy. i thought the first 2 chapters saved me from it, but the last 2 were just heartbreaking. i can never do good, and it made me cry. at least in the end, i know he got to convey his feelings.

He probably knew from their last night together but they both chose not to say it because saying it no longer makes any difference when he will no longer be here.

Yeah so I believe they both know each other’s feelings but chose not to say nor admit because by doing so it’d mean accepting the cruel reality that they can never be together, which means completely losing each other. Which is, yes, so very heart wrenching :’(

I tend to do away with yaoi that might overly-romanticized some things that are really fucked up. but this is fiction, and honestly, this kind of stories is the very reason why i love writing styles like this. ive read reviews of this manga, and it did not truly disappoint.

it goes to show how much fiction reflects true life, and how feelings and sentimentality make life and being with people so hard.

this is one of the few manga that don't romanticise fucked up situations. It just shows a different way of coping mechanism for rape and a quite realistic depiction of yakuza life.. and that is why it is really good although really morbid and heavy.
I wish stories like this were more main stream instead of the ones you mention and yes fiction and reality are different things but they do interlope which is why many of us feel conflicted about how certain things are depicted in manga (and books to be honest )

A whore is someone who sells sex. I guess you meant to call him a slut.

The psychology behind Yashiro's character and how he responded to his early childhood abuse is the backbone in Saezuru. If you read this whole manga so far and all you could get out of it is that Yashiro is just a whore, you practically missed everything. You might as well just look at the pictures and skip the story, you would come to the same simple minded conclusion.

There are so many places and dialogues in the story that links Yashiro sexual and emotional behavior as an adult as direct consequence of his early childhood abuse . I find hard to believe you missed it. So maybe you just don't find it believable.
You can do a quick google search on long term effects of childhood sexual abuse and you will find that effects varies greatly but promiscuity, engaging in compulsive or inappropriate sexual behavior is just one of the possible effects. Self harm and a feeling of being unworthy is also common. Note that Yashiro is not only promiscuous but he also has a profound need to be humiliated and harmed and most of all, he has a visceral rejection of any intimacy -- to the point of feeling like he is going to throw up. Also, Yashiro clearly doesn't want to feel like a victim so he needed some way to numb the pain and loneliness. Some use drugs, some numb themselves with booze. Yashiro uses sex. That's his drug of choice.
