This is my holy grail. It doesnt matter if there are any mistakes to me, because the storytelling, the art, the way hurt and longing and love and hope are depicted in this are simply my favorite out of anything I’ve read here.
I just reread this and I have to agree with you. The angst and longing was so sweetly painful, and their love for each other was so well articulated thru their facial expressions. Ten years. The what if always comes to mind to think of CS have found and read his journal in time. But then, we would not have this beautiful story.
Naho’s insecurities and transformation from self confident cutie to insecure mess is really sad I’m ngl, it was also super realistic of growing up in a really sad way. Also, thank you hirai.joke for translating - your improvement over 4 days/4 chapters is incredible, and thank you for your good intent and notes clarifying. Youre doing great work
This was not a fun read… Ha-Yoon is really a weak uke and actively runs into obstacles and has so little agency. The story telling elements actively dont make sense at times. There was very little real tension with both families so the climax didnt feel like it had any real payoff/felt more like a plot point, and the past relationship trope was not executed well. I don’t think the artist did a bad job per se (and not reflective of their talent) but art is not dynamic at all either - at least until the Chapter 45ish point where it felt like it got better. I think what it did well was Chapter 41, and portrayal of Ha-Yoon’s grief after is pretty good. However, the ending to the formal story feels very unsatisfying - Ha-Yoon shouldn’t have been so accepting after going off on Hyeon-Tae, and Hyeon-Tae was still being selfish by the end (not really that much character growth idk what others are talking about). It’s not the worst thing to read ever, but I don’t think I’ll revisit this nor would I recommend it based on my personal preferences and only liking 1 chapter out of 50 total main story chapters…
The low 8 rating gave me low expectations but this wasn’t that bad… I’ve read this type of story before and honestly, with the theme it brought back more nostalgia than anything. Also helps that the art is great. Yeah it doesnt make sense he was hooking up with the girl, the potential SA with getting someone drunk is not good and overdone, and the aquarium but is soooo cliche but having it tied to the MC fave BL at least makes sense. It’s not a 9, but ut was a quick read and I look forward to seeing the author’s next works and growth from here
Im DYING to read more like this as we wait for more updates. I love a good re-encounter story (my top reads have been this, Red Candy, Incidentally Dyed by Spring’s Love, and The Third Ending) and while I constantly reread them I need MORE! Some angst is good but what I need is sweet and overall romantic and re-encounter. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
I love the story telling. This is a peak example of how to tell stories with important and serious themes without making it feel like weighing characters and readers down with trauma. The related themes of family, abandonment, loneliness, hurt, all combined in an often neglected and left behind community intersecting with seniors and rural as well as prejudice in conservative societies (rural/Korea) are great. I’ve loved many rural based stories I’ve read recently but this feels closer to reality.
