ML started as turn off. No matter how plot development goes, yet the man is a total shit if he makes bets on breaking someone's heart with other dougchbags. She hadn't even wronged him to deserve this kind of treatment. And he is doing it why? Oh, "to humble her". Is this arrogance supposed to be hot??
FL is a dissapointment too. I get that she is depressed with the hatred she receives from her stepmom, but is she a little kid who can't live without parent's wing or what?? She is a healthy adult who has a job and it is not like she has some ambition that needs her parent's cooperation, so why is she being so submissive? She has a nice supportive bro too, who cares about her, but she doesn't give a damn about it - she prefers to dwell in self-pity and sob that nobody loves her. And she is so damn EASY! At this point if she obviously has no self-respect and can spread her legs for some stranger who mocks her, why the hell did she brush off her match making partners?? I just don't get it. At least the dickhead who was courting her intended to marry her and treated her politely at the surface, while her love interest is openly disrespecting her from the very beginning.
Fortunately FL gained some dignity after a bit of time and turned the table around. In this story ML is the one who clings to FL and makes efforts to stay by her side while she is rejecting him chapter after chapter for one reason or another.
Still I don't like the ending. FL escaped from Korea, where she was a social outcast, only to be dragged back again by ML. I guess he was just flapping when he sweared that he will give up his position for FL. Because at the end he didn't even consider a possibility to start a family with FL abroad, where nobody will mock her for her roots. As for how ML's family heartwarmingly accepted her after their return - it felt hypocritical for me. They switched the attitude so much after the news she is pregnant. Like all her worth is a child she is bearing. And FL's parents really gave me bad aftertaste - they harassed her so much while she was unmarried, yet turned nice as soon as she married into powerful family. Am I supposed to be happy for FL? This "happy" ending is just so korean.
