Yes the dad is trash, but sometimes guilt and love make you do weird shit lol. My dad was a deadbeat, he abandoned me and my brother when we were just little kids lol. He has a whole ass family and started his life over when he was still with my mom lol. But he's still my dad. It's so sad to say but I still have feelings for him that I just can't turn off.
Thankfully he was not a gambler or an addict, but idk would've make things better knowing he kinda had an "excuses" lol, idk , but I understand why Sohan can't just leave. Something still attach him to him so he cannot let go
