hello, I'm a singer and sometimes post covers on my instagram, and have fallen in love with the song Fuyu no Hanashi (from Given) and really want to cover it, but I'm scared that my peers will think it is weird. I am not Japanese, I am white, but I will be singing in Japanese. I know in retrospect this doesn't really matter but I just don't want people to think that "anime kid" or weird or anything.
If any of you have experience posting covers from anime or Japanese/Korean songs when you can't speak the language, please share :) Also, if you were in my shoes, would you post a cover or should I not? Like if any of you were to see it in your feed and were NOT into anime would, you think I am weird and unfollow me or something? Or am I overthinking?? THANKS GUYS

music is music, you should be able to sing whatever and however you want without getting judged. if i were in your shoes, i'd post the cover! however if that is still uncomfortable for you to do, you could try singing it in english using your own translations.
DO THAT COVER whether you think it's good or bad whether you get labeled as the "anime kid" or not if YOU want to do it , do it! If people do think you're weird take that as a compliment why be like everyone else or "normal" it's not twice as fun. Ps: getting labeled as the anime kid is a compliment. The amount of effort and enters the artists, animators, voice actors take to make such an incredible thing is honestly super inspiring so good luck and do what you think would be best <3

thank you do the response! I agree music is music and who cares, and I hate that I care so much about what other people think. I was initially thinking about doing it in English but it just sounds so much better in its original form and is more powerful -- i'm just scared cause im singing with the original instrumental and not paying guitar or anything so its pretty obvious it has that anime-esque vibe to it if you know what I mean. I'll let you guys know if I post hehe
very true! I agree the term"anime kid" is not a bad thing at all, its literally just a statement, but idk its kinda gotten a negative connotation for those who don't watch it and write-off animations as "weird" or whatever, that's why im scared. Such a stupid worry, but your response is reassuring thanks :)
