Suu is such a good protagonist!!! I'm not talking morally here lol but that's what makes good protags imo. I love that he's not only smart and scheming as hell, but he's flawed! From being ignorant of things beyond his control to having skewed morals... It makes him more relatable as a human, yet his cleverness also earns our respect. Say what you want about him, but he's definitely one of my favorite characters of all time.
I didn't really like the first story. It was weird how the seme manipulated the uke and we're supposed to view that as an okay thing to do. True, the uke needed to get outta his shell, but idk... None of the romance really made my heart pound. It's like they're just scripted to fall in love without really having any STRONG reasons to... It's like reading about two straight actors falling in love... I like the second one more for diving fully into showing the manipulative seme (and how this manipulation wasn't a good thing) and the explanation for the weird book. Tbh, the weird devil book is pretty unnecessary for the second story. Now y'all feeling super sorry for Gabriel, but I didn't care for him. He reminds me of domestic abusers and the way they like to isolate their partners from their friends, etc... Either way, I'm pretty unsatisfied with both stories. The drama was good and interesting, but the romance wasn't... romantic. In both stories, the semes just wanted to make the ukes fall in love with them without really making the effort to understand them... Idk it just felt superficial. I liked the art at first bc it was pretty, but I started being unable to tell the different characters apart with the same hair color still, the art was nice but needs more personality. All in all, even though I'm unsatisfied, I respect the author for writing this and hope they continue to grow! That's all for my TedTalk lol
OMG YES!!! I still hate Gabriel wtf. Idk why the author tried to make us feel bad for him but he’s seriously messed up in the head no wonder his mom was wary. I agree the whole super natural thing was kind of unnecessary- the plot was all about manipulative acts. I also agree that I didn’t find any of this romantic at all... but I just saw it as a point in how people fall in love by cons
Guys (and girls lol), I'm smiling from ear to ear! Seriously! I actually laughed and can't stop smiling that it hurts a little!!! I felt uncertain and anxious last chapter, but now my heart's fluttering along with Yiyoung! I love both characters! This uncertain love is a trope done right! This budding romance is a real win for the gays! I can't wait to be mutually in interested in someone!!! I used so many exclamation marks!!!
Overall, I'm glad I read this. First of all though... IT'S SO WEIRD READING A GAY SCI-FI COMIC! After only being exposed to the straight fantasy / sci-fi, it feels strange to see the tropes of sexualizing characters on MEN / MALE-PRESENTING beings (lol). That part makes me happy! The representation I didn't know I needed I feel like "THIS IS HOW STRAIGHT SCI-FI LOVERS EXPERIENCE THEIR COMICS!" Plus, putting female characters into stereotypically male roles was super refreshing too! It never felt forced either... BUT on the other hand, the cons of sci-fi are still string with with comic. As much as I find Blaze Galaxy to be hot, he's such an awful character. Although the comic recognizes his faults, from liking a being that's has the mindset of a child to using and leaving his exes, he never really grows or develops as a character by the end of it. Idk, I was left feeling really bitter for his exes, especial Ivan who criticized Blaze best. It sucks that these things are recognized, but they're never addressed deeply, leaving me kinda sad. Or course, this is still season 1! Blaze has lots of time to grow... or to descend into doom, but the way Blaze would manipulate the feelings of his exes made me really really sad idk he still hot tho. Still, this comic was SO SO cool for shaking up gender stereotypes, ESPECIALLY the Blaze when Blaze tries to seduce his captors. Okay I am done, thank you for reading my long ass random personal essay. See ya in space cowbois!
