I think my biggest problem with Lezhin is, after awhile, you're going to be paying the price of buying a full book for a couple of chapters that are barely have 5-6 pages on a regular. It's not really about being "poor" if the prices were a bit more fair of if there was a way to buy entire books instead of coins for each chapter it'd be more realistic. It's no different than playing a mobile game where you pay more for worthless micro transactions when you can buy a full game for less the price of temporary satisfaction.

I think the reason why it costs so much is because of translation reasons. A comic could be translated into 3 different languages, considering the fact that Lezhin has a Korean, Japanese, and English version of their site.
When you consider a site like Mr. Blue, which does not do an translations, you could get 12 chapters for literally 5 USD. Lezhin, for the same price is less than half.
While you do have a point, plenty of novels/mangas are indeed translated as well, and you're getting thick stacks of content for half the price of what Lezhin is doing. There really isn't an excuse for their prices whatsoever. Lezhin is a scam at this point. I have no problem with supporting artists for their work, but they're literally the reading equivalent of Deviantart users and their "hehe buy my nudes of the fotm character on patreon :)"
So, they are thieves! They gave me around 55 coins for almost 10 dollars (as a one time treat), but 3 coins x chapter is too much.

I think you are misguided in placing all the blame on Lezhin. I don't know of their financial situation, but we cannot use "being poor" as an excuse to not pay for the webcomics we read. That's not how the world works. Artists live off of the numerous things including the coins, keys, whatever they are called. We are making the artists sad by reading comics for free. They're not mad at Lezhin, as far as I know, but at the readers.

On Deviantart + Tumblr, once you reach a certain "popularity" level, the artist tends to stop doing what made them famous in the first place. No more unique pieces, just same faced/same bodied lewd art of whatever is the most popular franchise. They stop taking commissions and the sort, and they open a Patreon account in which you get "nude" versions of whichever popular character they've drawn for $$$$$$$. (Usually just a reskin of something they actually posted but with less/no clothes) It's pretty popular practice now.

You guys are ranting about how Lezhin is rolling in dough, but not a single one of you posted their annual income or even their monthly income. Whose to say they are making enough money? I assume a proportion goes to artist, so they have to pay for them, advertisement, and other expenses that come with running a business. That ain't cheap! So, it's posdible they've taken a hit because of illegal sites, forcing them to raise prices to make up for the deficit. You guys aren't considering exchange rates either. Some currencies are devalued, so you get less bang for your buck.

Honestly if you look at the price physical copies of webtoons go for it's much more expensive. Like the physical copy of Killing stalking is around $13 per book and that only includes 4 chapters. Then there's the price for shipping....

this is a capitalist world we are living what do yo expect? also, it's their right to charge whatever because it's their content. even the artists/creators themselves prefer that you pay for their webcomic instead of "supporting in other ways". no matter how much you justify, pirating is pirating if their webcomics is hosted in another site. physically published manga/manwha/manhua on the other hand earns so much by exporting their paperbacks and all the other merchandise like figurines and animes. they still earn more money than webtoon by miles.
here's what you can do: boycott lezhin webtoons. stop reading any of their comics and turn to other webtoon sites since they are cheaper or just think of a way to be able to afford to pay.
