I noticed too how the Mage didn't even speak up to defend his pupil when he was being accused. I assume he was probably having him (but anyone really who fit) take the fall. You could tell by his expression he's tip toeing around the spell placed to make his heart explode.
Butler is sketchy as hell too. Who does that to someone when they've literally just arrived, and as a guest. Also to cast magic so easily on a baby?

I disagree, I think the butler has the right intentions but is going about it the wrong way. I could be wrong but didn’t they say his parents died trying to stop his berserk attack after his twin died? If so it makes sense he doesn’t want to remind the Duke of his twin, it could lead the Duke into another attack. The elder magician couldn’t do anything more except offer for the junior magician to take the lord pledge. That was him defending the junior magician.
Theo’s memory of the portrait has to be erased, he is 3 and definitely would have ask the Duke about “the boy who looks like him” in the photo.
In the last chapter the hooded figure looks like the crown prince.

I understand where people coming from that they felt bad for eclise but imo he's the one who has super unhealthy obsession towards penelope. there's limit that penelope can do as a master and it's pretty common to hv master that aren't paticularly in heart with you. all eclise want was to manipulate penelope as his, which could be pretty bad
after reading some spoiler, I take back my stances. penelope is harsh with eclise. she give him a fake hope
fr and also imo there was always a power imbalance in their relationship so she was his 'saviour' in his eyes. even tho her intention was just to use him to get out of the game
zhiyou is so precious an cute I really do hope he stay pure for longer time TT canglian and linfeng is so wholesome too, I wish there's more of them flirting with each other
