I can’t believe I spent time analyzing Naho’s character for the first few chapters to my friend and absolutely geeking out over it. This has a lot of potential to be something more but it felt like the writers changed half-way through.
In my opinion, Naho is a very well-written character. Although the first few chapters did hurt me, I love whenever Naho pops up and shares his thoughts. It’s genuinely so exciting to look into his character in a deeper way, and I really enjoyed Naho’s character and his development. Though, that can’t be said for Kana.
Although Kana never did anything explicitly wrong, I felt like he was such an ass throughout reading this. Instead of making Kana as great of a character as Naho, the author completely threw his character development out the window and made him… well… that. To put it simply, it seems like he’s made for the “yaoi gaze”. (if that makes sense) Kana’s whole character is basically just being obsessed with Naho, wanting to fuck Naho, and that he doesn’t want to be popular. I wish that the author would expand more on the last character trait, and not any more on the remaining two. This really could’ve been so much more, and I’m mad that it’s all over the place now because of Kana’s horniness.
Yes, I have seen the spoilers about the canon and alternative endings. This is purely just my speculation, and I am not even entirely sure if Akira and Natsuhi will end up together.
I recently went to the artist’s X account and I was looking through their posts, until I came across a panel that showed Akita looking at Natsuhi while blushing. It is also likely that we might see this panel in one of the future chapters.
Of course, this shouldn’t be the only reason why I think Akira and Natsuhi are endgame. From my perspective, I truly believed that Akari and Natsuhi was going to be endgame ever since Natsuhi was first introduced. The interactions they both had later on were very cute and I felt like they grew closer with each interaction. Furthermore, it felt like the story focused on Natsuhi a bit more than the other love interests.
I do get the people who hate on this manga because of the novel spoilers, but I believe that the hate should go to the novel instead of the manga. Who knows? Maybe the artist might change the ending, maybe the ending will stay the same. We don’t know. You could hate on the novel, but the manga isn’t finished yet. Sure, there are unnecessary moments of fetishization and homophobia, and I get why people don’t like the manga because of this specific reason because I do too. But please refrain from hating on a work on the alleged ending before the ending is finalized.
Again, I’m not entirely sure that Akira and Natsuhi are endgame. This is just my speculation, and if I end up being wrong that’s fine.
That’s pretty much all I have to say about this lol and if you want to check out the artist’s X account, it’s @kana_kakitai
I can really feel the fear that Raymon holds when he describes how it feels in that room. Isolated, numb, you name it. He got kidnapped, he’s a victim. Most stories with this type of setting don’t have this certain kind of feeling where we get the victim’s POV. It’s refreshing to see a victim genuinely describe what they’re feeling when they’re kidnapped, instead of having small dialogues like “I’m scared” or “Please save me”. I really like this chapter, it gives a sense of the fear that Raymon holds and it’s really impacting. Can’t wait to see more!
“He is a scammer’s wet dream…” literally…
