I find it really silly how often in yaoi manga, the uke or seme sees pair of shoes by the others doorway or sees the other walking with a girl in the streets and immediately assumes that, ofc it must be his girlfriend(s shoes), as if its impossible for the girl to be just a friend or a co-worker or a cousin or a sister or a mother or an aunt.
I'm a girl, I have more guy friends than girl friends, doesn't mean I'm dating any of them.

I think it's probably a cultural thing in Japan. I can totally relate! Some cultures are super nosy and like jumping to conclusions. People in my country believe you can't have a friend of the opposite sex. They literally believe its impossible and that at some point there will be sex. I went to the beach with my swimming partner who was a guy (we were taking swimming classes) and a neighbor called my Dad and said "I saw your daughter and your son-in-law". I WAS 15 and I was not even dating that guy. I was even accused of dating my male cousin by strangers because he moved in with me and my parents during his parents' divorce. It was ridiculous! Some cultures are more interested in spreading gossip and rumors rather than asking you directly "Is that your boyfriend?" People where I'm from wouldn't ask but they will make up stories based on what they think they see! I can totally relate to these manga situations because they happen to me!
I knew I would reget reading this while ongoing (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
