Not sure why so many are confused about it, but ch.13 is all current no flashbacks.
So here's what I think, anything dealing with the past or foreshadowing an evil event is done in black because these are painful and bad experiences or incidents that she has or will have to face. But all the white background panels are definitely present. I don't think her husband's family gets the black panels because they are mainly a minor issue compared to others, such as creepy monk dude. But that's just what I think.
I think I may have to re-think my post. Going back through the story I noticed in chapter 12 she talks about getting rid of some staff from the mansion, so the scene with the monk could very well be a past incident since she got rid of people from the mansion staff in the past as well.
