Aside from lack of empathy from the author, I think it is also a weak story building. If the author thought hyesung should forgive his mother, it should be done in og love is an illusion. This is byul's story, bringing a topic as heavy as his mother just to make it a plot driver and fade out felt so unnecessary.

I'm usually super picky about art but sometimes I dig in if the story is good. I've recently read one and now I'm in the mood. Please suggest some before my mood fades ╥﹏╥
I think previous generations had the mindset of showing off their endurance against abuse, mistreatment, something they thought was admirable, or at least something they believed they should bear with. And literature is heavily influenced by this mindset. But now, it just puts people off when they see the abuser becoming the endgame or the nicer second lead losing. I know there are many nuances, and I actually welcome a redemption arc or proper plot, but some manga out there like this one just have no reason to make the ML win, yet end up doing it because the authors can’t take the risk of breaking free from generational literary trauma.
I think more people should talk about how it’s not the 90s anymore, no one tolerates shitty treatment and abuse now.
I usually don’t rate manga here but went out of my way to give it 1 star
