In the there of them, feelings between the characters exist BUT is not the main focus of the story.

For Mo Dao Zu Shi, its novel is definitely BL. I've read it a few times and the translations are very beautiful. If you'd like to seriously get into Mdzs, I'd suggest reading the novel before the manhua so you can get a better gist of the plot
