I actually loved this episode. I think Jaekyung is gonna give regular hugs now. Honestly, I think he was always a hugger. Sure, he kinda weaponized it during sex at first, but I noticed that he liked to hold Dan with both arms right away. Don’t come at me—I know he was awful before. I’m just speculating on how he’ll redefine his preferences.

He’s obviously terrified of Dan leaving again, so this feels believable based on all the recent interactions: saw Dan walk into the sea, watched him sleepwalk, saw him get drunk within literal seconds, thought he might have drowned and realized that he doesn’t want to let Dan out of his sight, tried to figure out how to keep Dan, learned that Dan is harder to win over and became aware of Dan’s trauma about his anger issues, tries to find a middle ground where he can keep him AND where Dan gets better, understands that Dan may never like him but doesn’t quite believe it, continues to deny Dan’s rejection while getting frustrated about Dan rejecting him, sleeps well in Dan’s presence but is understandably terrified when Dan is gone in the morning, has a dream about being tried when Dan leaves and then catches Dan almost falling to his death… dunno. Seems logical. This was his reaction when he thought Dan had drowned. He didn’t say sorry for being a jerk, only quietly decided he would try to be better.

This gave me flashbacks to my own high school relationship. He was so sweet, we were both each other’s firsts, we planned forever and beyond—then his mom told him she wanted to get back together with his horrible dad who lived in another state. He didn’t believe he could afford a life outside of his home while I knew I could because I’d already had to start paying rent at 16 and my family life had been nothing but moving from one cheap place to another, endlessly. But when I tried to convince him, when I begged him to stay and assured him we could do it, he became mean. He started saying cruel and degrading things to me. We had a fight and didn’t talk to each other for two weeks and he started crushing on someone else in that time but, because he had promised me he would never break up with me—that I would be the one to leave him because he would always be loyal, he pushed me to break up with him. He wrote some poem about how he used me and posted it online. And he never ended up moving.

Just a small bout of internal bleeding. Nothing he can’t handle. Doubt he’s gonna die. Ugh. How has no one staged a coup? Do they all just accept the indiscriminate slaughter?

But it seems like Haesu and Taeha met when the debt collectors came and hurt them. Because in the flashbacks we’ve gotten, she’s not in school uniform (her sandal was broken and she was crying in the first flashback) and Taeha believes she’s suffering BECAUSE of Mincheol. So he’s probably been following her for like… 7 years? I hesitate to say 10 because I don’t think he looked that way at 14. But maybe 16.

And because it’s been so long, I wonder if he played any part in changing Mincheol. Because Mincheol used to work hard, do good things, and love Haesu properly. But something happened. Why didn’t he work. Could he not find work? Haesu says he got into a lot of fights but… when? Did he pick the fights? What for? And what WAS the debt? And why did he leave it in her name?!

Just seems a little weird how he changed so drastically and did all this crazy stuff. I feel like she cleaned Taeha’s wounds and then he became obsessed and meddled.
