I might be wrong but the first man we see the one the mc designs for is the one from the flashbacks(I’ll call him twin one) and his twin brother has nothing to do with the past(twin 2) but because twin one doesn’t want mc to know about the fact they knew each back then he lied and said he didn’t know the mc back then and that it was his brother(twin two) that actually knew him. Unexpectedly twin two came back and so twin one asked twin two to lie and say he knew the mc so in conclusion the mc knew twin one as a teen and not twin two but twin one is lying hope that’s helps and I might be wrong but that’s how I took it
