Like, I'm under the impression that their meetups have been going on for like months (at least 3 months based on the context), and they've been meeting up almost daily, that's enough time and space to develop a crush on each other. Also you know the suspension bridge effect? Going through something scary can make you think you're falling in love? Obviously they like genuinely like each other too but I'm just saying that the plot makes it so that they can quickly fall in love
