Honestly, I love the art, but now that I'm also reading the novel I have to say that the manhwa is not giving Rishar justice haha. He's being portrayed here as impulsive, hot-headed, and dumb, but while that may be true in regards to his attraction to Etienne, he's actually on par with Etienne in terms of intelligence and scheming. Let's not forget that he's a military general, a war hero, and even if he's more prone to action he still can navigate the politics due to the emperor's influence. Rishar being assigned to the imperial police is actually HIS own plan of helping Etienne.
Since I've already talked about how Rishar was different in the novel, I actually wanted to also say that the emperor was also portrayed a little bit differently. Before I read the novel I hated the emperor because he was so spineless, but in the novel he actually had a deeper backstory. And he even felt very remorseful towards Etienne when he realized that Leona had been hurting Etienne, that he somehow wanted to repair their relationship. Still, I loved how Etty stood his ground and simply said he doesn't expect anything more from his father, just his political support. Even Rishar warned the emperor that he should just leave Etty alone because his mere presence hurts Etienne. I get that there's a lot of backstory that won't be shown in the webtoon but I still wished the characterizations were at least on point.
How was Rishar different?
