.. and this is why folks Chase is the way he is. He is an asshole but it is a product from being traumatized and emotionally neglected.
His bad actions are NOT excusable but it has a source. His elder brothers are on borderline psychotic levels that they actually traumatized him and also his parents do not recognize Chase's caring/apologetic (the bird incident) nature that his trauma is unrecognized.
He is also the Miller (as far as I know) that actually tried to get farther away from his family.
Edit: you can actually trace his caring nature by him not ever participating in pheromone parties to get off (by sex) his pent up pheromones unlike his elder brothers who are so active and well known at those parties. And he hated himself since he is literally a walking timebomb especially when unregulated.
