The equivalent of nongendered pronouns would be they/them. If you want to talk about people you don't know the gender of you use they/them. Typically people don't do that because it's also used to talk about more than one person. Likely one of the reasons you don't see they/them used in translations because it might confuse the reader. Sentences would more likely have to be restructured also, but also context other sentences would help also.

Here are some examples of using they/them.

What kind of face and what kind of voice did they have?
I could never forget them.
That customer was annoying I hope they fall in a hole.
No one trusted them as they lied about every little thing.
They were the only person I loved.
I wanted to spend the rest of my life with them.

Lmao I dun need an English teacher... I am Asian-American. They/them is still not going to translate pronouns that specify a person beyond their gender. That is why MTL goes back and forth from he and she and not they or them because as you said, it entails to ONE person not people. English is just not that rich when it comes to art of speaking ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ you can lecture me all day but it will not change that English doesn't have neutral pronouns...

Honestly, I wasn't trying to piss you off or give a lecture. I was just trying to point out they/them is the closest to gender-neutral that the English language uses. Even non-binary people use they/them because it's neutral, I didn't know how to explain it properly so it came out this way. Sorry if I offended you.

When you read the translation you can see that the translator is not fluent, so the misuse of the gendered pronouns are most likely due to them not having the same concept in their native language
I don't think they purposely wanted to give the FL a genderless aspect
And if they find the use of he/she difficult, they surely don't know about the they/them use
And even if they knew about it, it would make no sense here as she is gendered
I think this is why your in depth explanation was a bit over the top and out of topic
